This is my second year wakeboarding, I can get up, carve, go back and forth across the wake and am just learning to jump....so by no means an expert, but hoping to get into doing more tricks this year.

Anyhow, I was looking to buy my first board on the weekend and I saw that a local wake school was selling used stuff so I went to check it out. I ended up buying a 136 Liquid Force Jett. Not knowing that much about wakeboard brands etc. I took the advice of the instructor there who said it would be a good fit for me. When I got home I did a search on the net and realized that it is a GIRLS board!!!!!

My question is do you think this will be an issue at all? I gave it a try and it seemed fine but just wondering your thoughts? I am currently about 5'8 and 170lbs and NOT A GIRL!

I wish I found this forum before buying

The Jett is the same board (functionally) as the Witness. As long as the looks don't bother you, it will work just fine.

Okie Boarder,

Thanks very much for the insight! I had a look and you're right the specs look the same for the witness and the jett, so that makes me feel better. It is pretty much just a black board so aesthetically it is fine as well. Ended up getting board and bindings pretty cheap so hopefully it works out.

Anyhow, thanks again.

What makes a 'girls' board is basically the graphics (and they usually don't make larger sizes like 140, etc.). Sounds like you're ready to shred.

Just wear a pink vest and you're good to go!

The Witness(/Jett) is a great board so if you got a good deal on it, enjoy it!

imo 170 lbs is much too much weight for a 136. you need to be on a 138+ imo
im 175 and currently on a 138. i would never ride anything smaller.

I *think* I rode a 136 when I was about that size, but I was riding a bit on the small side. In any event I think you're good to go especially if you dig the feel of the board.

136 is a lil bit small the guy who sold it to you is kind of a tool especially if he is an instructor he should of known better. Was prlly trying to get rid of it. Its not a bad board by any means but its on the small side.

You know the whole height/weight ratio to board size is purely a guideline. It basically boils down to personal preference and what you're comfortable riding. I know plenty of girls riding guys boards, and guys much heavier than you riding 138's which let's face it is only 2cm difference. If I went with what the guidelines told me, I'd be riding a 130, but I hate it. I have a 136.

So long as YOU are happy and you get what you want out the board, then that's all that matters.

Hey, if its good enough for Amber Wing.... Very Happy

As has already been said, the only thing that separates it from the "men's" boards is the graphics. Its not a bad looking board at all, really not that "girly"

And...you can do this on it:

Yeah this is the one

http://www.boardstop.com/product_info.php?products_id=2690

and it has these bindings on it

http://www.evogear.com/outlet/wakeboard-bindings/ronix-frank-boots-black-2009.aspx

I don't think it looks too bad. I guess we'll see how it rides throughout the summer tough. Hopefully it will be ok. A little worried now with everyone's comments on the size. It felt alright but I didn't ride it for too long.

snow2wake, Just don't let the naysayers get in to your head. If you like a board, you like it, nobody should be able to convince you otherwise.
