Jerseys over vest look cool.
But a shirt? Looks uncomfortable and annoying IYAM.

I wear a t-shirt over my vest every once in a while, just for show and because I have been using the same life jacket for about 7 years so it's pretty beat up but I still love it.
There is no point what so ever though, other than for looks.

Ditto... save the jerseys for sports that require jerseys.... You dont see basetball players wearing life vests...

The jersey thing is a copy of snowboarders who have been doing it for a while.
To me, it's trying too hard. Let your riding style speak for itself.
With our flashy boats, blaring music, and over the top style, this is just one more step into d-bag territory as a sport.

Most magazines/sites won't publish riders without a vest because the USCG tells them it is illegal and other people complain. So the shirt over the "vest" was born, although it is just a shirt and no vest.
Not sure about shirt over vest.

People just do it for style points. Personally it doesn't make much sense but I guess if you are absolutely shredding on the cable and want to stick out, it helps.

+1
This is exactly how I feel.
You've got those ridiculous looking wraps that make your boat look like a graffiti'd POS, people BLARING (possibly offensive) music from their speaker cans. And you wonder why every time I go to the boat launch the DNR rolls me for life jackets, fire extinguishers, registration, etc but lets the non towered boats right through. It all gives the sport a particular name.
I, for one, try to give everyone a wave even if they don't wave back, drive responsibly, and keep my music to inside the boat. I also agree with the "keep the jersey to sports that use it". Put a life jacket on and wakeboard or put your jersey on and go ball.
Otherwise you just look like a tool IMO.

I disagree. Who cares if someone wants to wear a jersey over their vest cause it looks cool? I think it is more of a personality thing. The riding style stays the same no matter how the person looks while doing it, and I know when I watch people, how they look does not influence my opinion on them as a rider.
Honestly if people thought I was a d bag for wearing a shirt or jersey over my vest, which I dont..I would do it just to spite them, and id get a laugh out of it

Except you wouldn't be spiting us. We'd be laughing at the d-bag wearing a jersey for no reason.
As far as if someone thinks they look cool wearing one, go ahead and wear it then. If you think it's the greatest thing, then do it. However, I think based on this thread you are just going to know a lot of people think it's stupid and trying too hard.
We all have the right to an opinion. In this case I just think it's kind of silly to say something that has no functional point being on the water (and does have a functional use in another sport, mind you) is "cool".

Worry about yourself...Who gives a F what others wear. You are just as ridiculous as the kid wearing an XXL cookie monster shirt over his CGA vest.

If I'm the one who you're referring to I'd love to know why.
I simply stated that he isn't going to be "spiting" anyone. The people who think you look stupid are going to think you look stupid. If you think you look good, great.
So if I have an opinion about how someone looks I'm ridiculous? Your reasoning doesn't seem very sound.

MasonH, You post a valid question.
I'm just talking in general. You can't control what others do so don't worry about it. Wear a jersey, tshirt, a pair of pants or even some jorts.
Just don't wear ski gloves please

haha i have thought of wearing a polo or some other dumb shirt before. I laughed when i saw that vest too. I have been known to rock a jersey but it was just cause we were out with friends messing around.
I think there is a difference between the shredtown crew wearing t's and tanks and a kid a tourney i saw wearing under armor, vest, t shirt, and bandana (he sucked too). it comes down to what do you spend more time doing: riding in what you think is comfortable or trying to accesorize to look cool? good style is when you dont look like youre trying too hard, whether it be your effortless tricks or what you wear.

| There are 24,000 people on this board and most people use the same screen name for the other forums they frequent. I personally think it would be cool to rep your screen name when riding. I remember a lot of the names on here and it would be a good way to stop by and say hey.
