Would using the 4 fin setup for the slingshot boards work at the cable park?

I know I would probably have to take them off to hit a slider, but could I use them while hitting the kicker?

And the shredtown recoil board is the same, just alternate colors right?

You should be ok. I'd take them off if you plan on hitting a lot of ramps/rails though. They'll probably hold up for a while, but why risk it if you don't have to?

the shredtown deck is just a different, special edition color. No construction changes.

Thanks GnarShredd, i usually spend all day at the park, so Ill probably just use them on kicker runs. Ski Rixen only has 1 good slider anyway.

Ya I thaugh the shredtown was just a different color. Now I have to deside which looks better with reliks.And do you know how much the recoil deck weighs?

No clue on the exact weight but they're definitely not heavy boards. Board weight really won't make a big difference in keeping you from progressing at all or anything.

I think I'm switching to a Slingshot deck myself (Reflex) as soon as I can afford it (waiting on my tax return!). 90% of my riding is rails and these things are built super solid.

(I don't know if you can wait but rumor has it that they're going to be building a deck with molded-in fins for the cable. I don't know how true that is but I imagine it'll be the 2011 boards if it's happening at all.)

I'd rather actually not have molded ins, I've rode a board with no fins and another with large molded ins, and Its prefer the ability to take the fins off.

Would a big change in weight feel different? For example I have a tramp setup that's 9 pounds, and the setup I ride weighs 16, I'm not gonna try any flips on my board on the water unless I got a new setup that weighed 9 pounds or less. Would the riding feel different?

Not a whole lot. From what I've gathered over the years, wakeboarding is mostly about technique and not about having the lightest setup around.

If you're doing a trick wrong from the beginning, shaving a few pounds off of your setup isn't going to help you muscle it around and land it. ANY deck/binding setup from a major player in the wakeboard industry (slingshot, LF, hyperlite, CWB, etc.) will be fine.

You should really work on getting the question of board weight out of your head. I've not ONCE purchased or not purchased a board based on the weight (let alone try to figure out what the setup weighs) and have NEVER been held back by the setup. The only thing that will hold you back is your confidence.

Should i be worried about my new 2010 Response's fins screw inserts getting loose while taking a beating from cable kickers? what will give in first, the fins or the deck (where the fins are screwed onto)? Thing is i noticed a lot of boards in our local park with built in shredded molded-in fins, made me wonder how my Slingshot would hold up.

jondextan, On almost any board, the fins are the first thing to go (they usually crack and break off once they're weakened assuming they're not metal of course). I would not be worried about the inserts, I haven't used the boards myself but a lot of our local riders use Slingshot decks and everytime I've seen a fin fall out (at least a half dozen times so far) the fins go first without damage to the board. not saying it's impossible, but really unlikely (you'd have to screw up real bad, regular use won't be a problem).

Make sure they're bolted in fairly tight and you'll be fine (you don't want to give any wiggle-room for a fin screw if it's loose, this can cause some damage).
