Im guessing you're wondering how the rope stays at the top of the pylon? It has a special cap with a slot in it that the rope slips into.

I loop the rope over twice, or you could tie it

| I assume that you have looked at other pylons. If you make yours the same way you will be fine. The rope will not fall down if put on correctly. we have never had one fall off and we don't do any double loops or anything.

The hitch would work, and just double loop your rope so it doesnt fall off and you should not have a problem.

| its 7 ft. tall, the conduit comes 10' long and threaded on one end, i just chopped three feet off the unthreaded end. I made a plywood box base, and hold the thing up with ratchet straps. I think I have less than $40 in the whole contraption.

Yeah I made one similiar for my Hooptie boat, 1984 Marquis Mercruiser I/O. I welded a 2 inch trailer ball at top of pole. Yes, you just loop rope over ball twice, no problem. It will never, ever, slip down pole.
Thats the gist..................
