Anyone have any experience in purchasing a car in a different country? I'm in the market and the dollar is too good to not look at this as an option. Looking to buy used, likely 2006 or 7, private or dealer doesnt matter. _________________ www.highrollerwakeboarding.com
You need to find out what needs to be done and if the car can be imported from the US into Canada. Most cars can be imported and some need a couple of modifications. I brought my car in before the imobilizer chip had to be standard. I'm not sure how that part works.
What you need is Clear title of the car. It needs to be faxed to the US border for export two days before you export the car. At the Canadian border you need to have the invoice and pay the GST. You'll have to have the car looked at Crappy tire for the federal inspection and then you have to get a provincial inspection. Both the inspections total cost about 400 bucks. _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash...
I have not used this dealer, but I have heard good things. They are right near the border and have lots of experience selling to people in Canada. They sell only late model cars with the factory warranty (usually lease returns). I also remember reading somewhere that they will fly you in to pick up your car. Worth checking out.
