There's a young kid in a nearby town (Oologah) that got bacterial meningitis and had to have his arms and legs amputated. He also has extensive damage to his face. They have been doing some fund raising for him here in the Tulsa area.

Please say some prayers for this young boy and his family.

His name is Jeremiah Mitchell.

They have set up a trust fund for him to help collect money for assisting in medical costs. The KRMG link has the bank information in case any of you decide you want to help in that way.

Here's a couple articles...

No disrespect to the little guy but his mom sounds a bit selfish and should have known NOT to have a kid.

"Jeremiah's existence is a miracle in and of itself. His mother had leukemia as a small child and should have never conceived. The Lord saved her. The Lord created him and the Lord can save him now

Lets see how good the Lord does with this one.

I wish him the best since he didn't choose to be brought into this world with almost no chance for a normal life.

WTF are you talking about? Meningitis is a bacterial infection. I would be hard pressed to believe that this was related to his mothers leukemia in any way. This is just a case of really poor luck. If you were in a car wreck and lost your limbs should we blame your folks as well?

When the article said she should have never conceived isn't it saying that the chances of her having a son after going through Leukemia as a child is a miracle? I don't think its suggesting that her having a kid after going through Leukemia resulted in him contracting a bacterial infection.....

Guys, I think this was just kind of meant as a "dang that sucks, pray for him if you believe" kind of thing.

And in that regard - that blows. I wish that guy the best of luck because I couldn't imagine what life would be like or how he could have any fun. I hope he has some quality of life after his amputations.

Exactly. And, I posted the information on the trust so if you feel compelled to help another human being through a tough time, you could.
