Hi

The water temperature is around 40 degree fahrenheit and the air temperature is around 45-55 degree fahrenheit. The season is beginning in 5 days. Will my 3/5 wetsuit be warm enough for this kind of weather or will I be freezing?

I think I will buy neoprene gloves and socks, so keep that in mind. Looking forward to your answers Smile

In my opinion I think you're asking for trouble. I think I'm being a little dangerous trying it in a dry suit (almost literally the same temps, 39 water / 50 air). However, I think you'd probably be able to go for a minute or two just to get it out of your system. I personally would NOT stay in longer than a minute or two in that amount of cold.

Remember that you'll be traveling in 20mph winds (boat goes 23 usually).

If you go for it, bring a cooler of super hot water out with you and put towels in it. By the time you want to use it, the water should be "warm". Have the driver check the water to make sure its not too hot (you'll be numb and in no condition to tell whats what) and grab the towels out and wrap them around your hands and feet after wards.

Think polar plunge. People cut ice and jump in literally freezing cold water then immediately get out and jump in a spa. This should be almost exactly what you try to do.

Also bring a dry change of clothes and get changed immediately after wards.

Also we aware you'll probably need helping getting out of your bindings. When I go that early season I'm weak as hell and the bindings are super stiff from the super cold water. So just make sure you have a few able bodied buddies that can rip the board off you and get you in the boat in decent time.

bobboarder, youll be cold but youll be alright. My friend rode a 3/2 last week in 50deg water and Ive ridden 55 or so in a springsuit (2/1). Youll be a little chilly but its definitely doable.

Thanks for the answers! Smile

It is only weeks ago there was ice on the water, so I am a bit skeptical. I just have to try it and see if I am viking enough to handle it Smile
