|
|
I am looking at getting a board and bindings for my brother (who is a beginner). Which of these are better options?
Hyperlite Motive 140 with Hyperlite Foundation Bindings
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/boa/1661660541.html
CWB 141 (unsure on bindings...says "Hinoc Tech" on them:
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/boa/1661670264.html
I am leaning towards the Hyperlite but I would like to try out the CWB because I have never used one...just not sure about the bindings.
What do you think? |

I weigh 165...he weighs 200. Ideally, we would like to stay relatively cheap...not sure I have a specific $$ value in mind. Thanks! |

utb, the Hyperlite motive is a great board. I think the 140 is a good size for your brother.
and the motive is actually Shaun Murray's old pro model so you know it's a good shape.
I would recommend getting the motive. |

| those bindings suck though.. there gunna tear ur feet up and that means u wont want to ride very long.. guess you could buy the board then take off the bindings and get you a nicer set of bindings.. |

What about the Hyperlite Varios bindings? I have a pair - based on my research, they aren't great - but not horrible. What bindings should I keep my eye out for? I know about the Ronix One, O'Brien Xenon and CWB. Any others? |

| Thanks man - I will look into the LF Watson boots you listed. What makes them "better" than Hyperlite Varios...in your opinion? |

| idk much about various boots.. but shawn watson is a pro rider and he is really good. so of course he is going to make the boots he rides in really good also.. the watson closed toes are really comfortable and keep your heel locked down while some others ur foot would move.. and if you have a very uncomfortable boot ur going to be miserable and that boot will prolly only last 1 or 2 seasons. so why not spend a little extra money and get a boot ur going to be happy with and its going to be comfortable so that means you can ride longer.. thats just the way i look at it.. and if you read reviews about the watson closed toes, everyone likes them.. just my 2 cents... |

Thanks bro - just trying to soak in as much information as possible. I threw up a bid on the Watsons listed - I am definitely a believer in you get what you pay for and I don't want to cut rides short because my feet are sore.
Thanks again! |

The best suggestion I can give you is to find a board that is big enough for your bro. At 200 bills he needs to ride at least a 142.
There are a couple good sites that offer deals. One to pay attention to is Boarders Best Buy, they do a few deals a day and have em up til they sell out. They are linked to Boardersmall which has a ton of closeouts for what you are looking for.

When it comes to boots, you need to determine if the board is for just your bro or if a bunch of other people will likely use it (as the beginner board or whatever). If its just for your bro (or people with similar sized feet) then get him a better boot setup. If many are going to use it, get a boot that fits a wide range, something like the CWB Torque. |
