So, we are rolling into a new season. I'm just curious of everyone's goals or plans are for this up and coming summer. Is it going to be to land as many new tricks as possible... Or maybe grab everything you already have. Just think its healthy thing to address, healthy for the sport as well as for your own personal riding. The main focus of course should be to have fun. But also pushing and progressing. _________________ Free Ride, Love to Ride and Push Yourself.

I had a goal to ride on tour again this year and had an easily doable run in mind that would've put me in a good position in Pro Mens, but my buddy still hasn't gotten a new boat and he's my main riding source through the year since I won't be home until late June, early July. Sooooo my goal this season is just to ride . I would go to Orlando to camps and train with a few people but it's way too expensive to pay for instruction...I like to just pay my gas money. |

Well goal number one is to never suck as bad as I did yesterday. One of the worst sets of my life.
Assuming I can get back to where I was (hopefully or Ill go crazy), I want to really work on new difficult tricks. Last year I found myself trying new stuff but it was all within my comfort zone. I want to learn some big tricks this year, so just committing to it and taking the beatings I need to learn a few is a big focus for me this year. |

| back to basics, progressing switch tricks and focusing on legit grabs. i want to be able to do everything i can regular, switch and comfortably. past few seasons i've been so focused on landing bigger and bigger tricks that i've gotten away from developing my own style and have been lazy on grabs, which sucks to watch on video.. but i'm stoked on this season, just got my new board and had my first session in 7 months last week and had more fun poking new grabs on 1s and 3s than i've ever had throwin 5s and mobes, so it's going to be a fun year. |

I'd love to get ALL my old tricks back, but at this point I think it's nigh impossible. I get in a rut where I just stick to the same tricks every set and forget to try ones I used to do or ones that I want to try. I'm hoping to break myself from that this year and start bringing back the full arsenal (or at least close to it).
I'd really like to get better at spinning. I've done a couple 5's in my day, but I've never even been very consistent on fs 3's. I've got an outlandish dream of landing a 7 before I'm 30
I'd honestly be freaking stoked on just getting on the water a ton this year and even be close to progressing again instead of doing same old same old. |

Well... Have fun! I hobe to land the Sbend2blind, and Roll2 blind, switch and regular.
Ollie 360 things should be in the bag switch and regular, bs and fs. And then I would be content about progressing. Grabs on my tricks are still very hard for me so maybe i should focus on that.
I hope i get to a 313 and backmobe but well see, well see... For the same reason you have a tored ACL the second run of your season, so never push behind your limits. Go fast, go hard, and land like a feather _________________

holdsworth, have you seen what guys are throwing in pro men lately? To get past qualifiers is damn near impossible unless you have learned about 10 new tricks that you have been keeping secret from us _________________ Liquid Force

ky1e, I have some from the past that I can build on and perfect, along with a few mobes and spins I've been working on. Plus, with my fat ass joining the track team I've lost about 20 pounds and gained a lot of strength and flexibility so I would've learned more things a little quicker than before Haven't ridden in two or three weeks though so it's out the door anyhow. |

| This season is going to be huge to me, I have taken 4 sets so far in March and have progressed more in those 4 days than I did the entire season last year. My parents are going to be getting a new boat (most likely MC x-star) here in 2 weeks, so I have been super pumped to just go out and ride even with the old crappy wake. I can't wait until the new boat, and with that wake I should be able to progress a TON. It is going to be awesome and hopefully I can give a run at the PWT within a couple of years! |

first and foremost I want to make sure my knee stays strong and healthy. I messed up my PCL pretty bad last june and couldn't progress a damn bit last year after it happened.
I'd like to get inverted this summer attempting scarecrows, hs backrolls, and tantrums.
I also feel like I'm very close to a backside 3 so I'd love to try some of them.
Just hoping my knee will allow for me to attempt these. So far PT and strengthening has been going well so we'll just have to wait and see... _________________ Wake Forest University |

Blindside_137, Assuming you have never tried any inverts, I would go with the backroll first. Doesn't hurt one bit when you crash. Now tantrums on the other hand.....Wellll...I've had to reach down and grab my nuts several times to make sure they were still there |

I'm worried though that the motion of the backroll would result in a horrible fall (for my knee) if I under rotate and end up taking the blow to my left leg.
Did you try them at a slower speed and shorter rope when learning? Or did you just go for it?
here's a video to my first tantrum attempt back in 08.
http://vimeo.com/1382852
I tried 4 more that day but they all were like that. I just think I was absorbing too much pop on the take off. I feel like I could've had them last summer if it weren't for my knee _________________ Wake Forest University |

Blindside_137, Not saying it doesn't happen, but I have never under rotated doing a backroll. I tore my MCL 2 summers ago, and luckily have had no problems with it wakeboarding after it healed up.
When I first started trying backrolls I shortened the rope a little bit and just went for it. I didn't slow the boat down much if any. |

alright, well I certainly would love to land either a tantrum, scarecrow, or backroll this year. I'll take it easy with riding the first few weeks then devote a weekend to attempting some of these and just see what happens _________________ Wake Forest University |

The backroll is a kneekiller indeed when underrotatating.
I also dont suggest you start with this invert behind the boat. Go for a tantrum. _________________

I didn't get to ride much last year having a newborn. He loves the lake, but we were beached up most of the year. This year I may be having back surgery, so it may be shot for the most part..... |

This year I want to stick the 3's. I was grinding on them pretty hard last year and tweaked my knee just a tad but that was the end of the season then.
What I really want however, is to get used to a new board and really like it. I tried the 08 lyman last year and while I really loved the feel of the board, I just couldn't get it to explode off the wake. I rode a hyperlite belmont prior to now and I could get much more air on that board than the lyman - so I'm confused as the lyman is a 3-stage and the belmont is a continuous rocker.
I bought a Shane this year to see if I like it better but if I still can't get it to react how I want, I'll likely shift back to the lyman and see if I can get it to behave. I've heard people say it will get you up there if you hit it right, but I spent an entire season hoping for that "bigger air" and I feel I know enough about edging to make it react so I don't think it was operator error.
Anyways I'll be screwing around with 3's and tantrums this year. If I land both I'll be a happy camper. Mainly I want to find myself not getting in the grind of not trying anything new. I found myself doing that a lot last season just wake to waking, grabbing, then I'd be a little tired and wouldn't try anything new, and it got boring. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

Today went wakeboarding. HUGE waves at the lake it was sick (even for a cable park, we could actually WAKE board...)
Not even a blindjudge was landed, and everyone was just like, WTF is this wind! _________________

My thoughts on the season, same as last year. To have as much fun as I can before it's over. I got all my 1's last season, kinda sketchy on the switch 1's, so I'm gonna dial those in. Seriously thinking tantrum this year, at least a few attempts. _________________

I simply want to get out and ride as much as possible. The last few years have, for the most part, just been one long party.
I blew my knee back in '06 and had been regressing before that anyway. I'd love to be able to get back to where I was '01-'03.
I definitely have some tricks in my mind that I REALLY want to land this summer. But, like I said, main goal is just to get out and ride and enjoy the summer.
Anybody in the San Antonio area that wants an extra rider, give me a shout! I've got gas money and can drive a decent double up (sometimes ). _________________ "Dumb dumb Cobe. Almost got in a fight. Almost got kicked off the island." |

Since I got a boat finally...I'll be excited to dial in that wake with 2000 lbs of ballast and a wedge.
Want to land in the flats both hs and ts; then want to be able to go big on fs hs/ts 180's. Throw some grabs in after that.
I have a tramp, might try a backroll...haven't backflipped yet on the tramp, so I doubt I'd try that.
I also plan on working on the surf skills.
Water will be freezing here for a while-just need warmer air temps.
Just stoked to be out there with a boat. |

Cable: I'm planning to work on courage a little bit and grow a pair, haha. Want to get my cable raleys confident again (small concussion kind of held me up on those) and get the nerve to take something to blind (probably backroll). I'd also like to learn some tricks off of the kicker on my toeside/switch heelside.
Winching Goals: Hit more gaps, slide something that wasn't meant to be used as a slider (Ledge, random pole jam, etc). Also, hit the beach and get some wave-riding in.
Boat: Only got to ride behind a boat once last year, so anything more than that would be great.
Also, I want to meet more people in the sport and get a good crew of riding buddies together. |

Ride as much as possible and get consistent on what I already know and do them switch.
Land an invert
Dial in a BS 180 and start learning the 360
Ollie a no wake/buoy marker |
