I'm looking at potentially buying a MC with the metal flake paint (polyflake, whatever the trade name actually is) and I'm curious if anyone else has experience with this option. Having owned many boats, I'd be foolish to think that it won't get scratched....I can see some idiot trying to raft up now, out of control causing me to come unglued as he pulls along side. Anyway, I'm looking at two boats, one with the metal flake and one without.....the one with has a ton of options and I love the look, but I'm really apprehensive about how difficult it will be to maintain or repair this paint job.

The metal flake will be expensive to repair. It does look beautiful but I dont think I would go for that option.

Metal flake is not hard to repair. What color is the metal flake and I will tell you how to repair it, as far as chips. Repainting a little more tricky but it can be done.

I think its gorgeous, and if you do it, spring the extra $ to get the matching metal flake platform.

I moved forward with signing on the dotted line....this was a new 08 that had a slight ding in the back it looked like someone side swiped the dock. I made a deal that if the MC dealer made the repair to my satisfaction it would prove to me that the repair could be done and I'd move forward with the purchase.

I guess I'll have to be a extra careful

Get the Flake. I was going to get the flake on my boat and asked the same question. Everyone said it's hard to repair blah blah blah. I didn't get it and I regret it. My buddy got the red flake on his Xstar it looks amazing.

If you like it. GET IT
