I recently bought a new ronix ibex that had fins on it. I previously had a hyperlite with no fins, but heard that fins allow you to cut harder into the wake? Is this true? What is your guys input?

I rode finless with my LF Melissa board and just got the Ronix Faith Hope and plan on riding finless again. The fins on Faith Hope are way smaller but well see on the water. It will just teach me how to edge better; in my opinion.

The Ibex is like the Viva were there are no molded in fins. So you you will definitely want to use them. Its more of a water channeling area.

Fins will help you track easier but I don't know about cutting harder into the wake. I guess if you don't know how to edge properly it would help but if you know how to edge properly I don't think it would make much of a difference. But I agree with SexyWS6Mama,going finless will teach you how to edge better.

If it has no moulded in fins, use the attachable ones and take out the middle one. Defo ned side fins for tracking and locking into the water.

when i was riding fin less, it had molded fins, and a Channel for the water so the board would track straight.

Yup my board has moulded in fins, so I just remove the middle one to make it a bit more slippy as that's how I like to ride.

Mine are not molded. I have removable 1/2 inch fins that cup toward the center of the board. I ride without the center fins, though.

Was it a new board from a shop? If so demand your fins. I really hate it when someone buys a board and does not get fins with it. Even if you do not want ride with the fins...get them... I do not know how many calls I get each week where someone has bought a new board and the shop does not send them the fin pack.

They sometimes go missing at the factory and on the showroom floor but the shop should correct the problem for you.
