I can't be of huge help but there are others on here that can.
I bought the Kicker KMT6 pods and will be installing them soon. I've heard good things about them, especially paired up with the right amp. I'm going with the Kicker KX450.2. The speakers sell on ebay for ~$250. That amp sells on ebay for ~$150.
I have a friend that has the Kicker KX700.5 and is driving 4 speakers and a sub with it. It works well and I've heard good things about that amp.
I'm probably going to end up with the tower set up I mentioned, then run my four in-boats and sub with the Kicker KX700.5. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Alright so do you think i should get 1 or 2 amps? in the end i plan to have the 4 in boat speakers and 4 tower speakers ( 2 doubles ) and a sub. Also if so i know that amp is an 08 but think it would be good to get both of those.
The reason im staying away from the ktm is because they are in a black enclosure and that would look kinda stupid with a white and red boat. i was hoping for chrome speakers for that reason.
thanks for the info so far :] |

I'd lean towards two amps. I'm not sure if one could handle all three zones you are shooting for. I'd run one amp for the in-boats and sub, and a seperate one for the tower.
I'd also be more inclined to go for sound quality over looks, but that's my opinion. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

| i totally agree. just want to assess all options to find something with good quality and match a little bit. XD and i was thinking that too. i could get two of those amps stated above. i have sent out a few emails to some companies that i think can help me out. stayed away from high price companies that would just try to tell me i cant get it for that price or that it would be worth spending more etc just to try and get my money. |

Polk is decent equipment from what I've heard.
How are you going to hook up that amp for running all your speakers? I'm assuming that is a 5 channel amp? _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Yes it is a five channel amp, was wondering if that price is good.
Would probably do sub on channel five and channels 1 and 2 to boat speakers and 3 and 4 to tower speakers so it would be front / rear controllable with boat/ tower speakers |

That would probably work fine. You might consult with the audio guru's on here or a shop to make sure you are set up right as far as loads and load capacity with respect to your speaker set ups. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

| Yea thats what i was hoping to do. I was actually going to have it installed at the marina where we keep the boat hopefully. depends how much they charge vs how easy / hard it is to do myself. |

| Hooking this amp up to those 8 speakers and the sub wont cause problems would it? I am trying to now blow the speakers amp or sub of course because i wont be able to afford a replacement for a long while. |

Probably not. I'd just do your homework to ensure you have it hooked up properly. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

| As long as you keep the impedance at or above what the amp is rated for, you should be fine. Most amps run fine at 2 ohms or 4 ohms. Connecting the speakers in series increases the impedance (add each speaker's impedance), running in parallel decreases the impedance (you divide the impedance by the number of speakers in parallel). You can combine series and parallel to make it work. |

Call the guys at wetsounds www.wetsounds.com and they can steer you in the right direction. You've got several options through them. You could run a syn4 on a pair of 485's and then get a syn 6, which would run all of your interior speakers plus a sub.
Or, you could get a syn6 and use that to power a pair of 485's as well as one sub.
If you have any questions, pm me! |

Here is my idea of a budget system
1 Kicker ZX700.5 $275.95 Ebay (Could use this for your boat speakers and sub)
1 Kicker ZX450.2 $159.95 Ebay (For tower speakers)
1 Pair Krypt 6.5's or 8" HLCD speakers in cans ~ $350 to $450 (LS1_Seven said in another thread that the way to get the best deal on these is to contact Krypt through ebay.)
1 Kicker Comp 12" in a box Ebay $124.99
That puts you right around $900. Another couple hundred and you got yourself some wiring and maybe and extra battery. Quality on stuff above should be decent for the dollar and your going to get a little bump in the boat and the rider will be able to hear the music. If you wanted to stay completely under a grand you could replace the Krypts with Kicker KMT6's. Your rider is still gonna hear the music but just not quite as well as the HLCD's. |

Here is my system setup.
4x Polk DB651 in boats..............$60 ebay
4x Krypt 6.5" HLCDs.................$350 ebay (he seems to be selling one pair at a time now so this may be hit or miss on ebay)
1x Exile 800.4..........................$200 ebay
- 2 speakers per channel.
- 200 rms watts per channel.
1x Hifonics BXi1610D................$200 ebay
- This amp puts out 1600 rms at 1 ohm. You can get the 1210D for $50 cheaper. Or other brands of course.
1x Digital Designs 9010.............$200 (caraudio.com forums)
- This is a $1000 sub, I got lucky.
Misc. 0 gauge and other wire.......$40 (ebay/caraudio.com forum)
I already had the tower cans. Best way is to buy the double cans with speakers. Use those speakers in the boat and put the HLCDs in the cans. I was able to get a pair of double cans for $284 with polk MM651s in them.
Total $1274 if you get speakers with the doubles.
If you buy empty cans it will still be under your $1500 budget. I also opted for multiple batteries. I picked up 3 D31T yellow tops for the "house" system. And a 135 amp alternator. |
