Probably around Mid April. Just depend on how much cold rain we get and when the weather warms up. My season begins when Norris lake's water hits 62* and Air temps get over 70* in the sun and about 75* on cloudy days.

Last year our first board went in the water on St. Patty's day and we were hoping to beat that but it's looking like it's going to be a few weeks later judging by the current water temps. Need a dry suit!

I'm pretty sure I have one of the longest off seasons. We don't get on the water until June unfortunately. Usually around fathers day.

Right now the lake that I wakeboard on is completely ice. Except for the one part over by the dam. Sucks.

Late April at the earliest for me. Isn't usually as much about water temps as it is about outside temps at that time of year. I ride at my lake house that is almost 2 hours away, so it is tough to commit a weekend to go down there knowing that I might not get good enough weather to even get the boat on the water-then I just end up sitting inside all weekend bored off my ass.

I have my boat tuned and preped the first week in May, after that it depends on the weather. First set last year was May 9th, but we had a mild winter. With the way winter is going around here it will probably be closer to the end of May beginning of June.

I've thought about this recently, looked back at some old pics from my "first day of summer" photo albums and it looks like I almost always am out by the end of March. I'm aiming for a March 20th dewinterizaiton.

LoudonTN,

We always take a quick set in March sometime. The worst part is how cold your feet get.

Well last year we went for a valentines day ride, then picked up and started riding March 3rd.. This year, we just got a snow on valentines day, so may be a little later..

It is usually Fareezing when we start in march, like ice cream headache cold, and numb hands and feet, but worth it... I am always so ready this time of year, Id put up with the pain to get out on the water

I rode two days ago on Valentines day. You can ride year round but I've been out due to injury so it was my first ride of 2010.

I also managed to land all 3 of the 180's I can throw back to back for a first time (just recently learned them) so it was extra awesome. FS 180, HS 180, half cab.

Happy to say that my season is going on it's 44th month. I've ridden every month (at least once, usually more) since June 2006. February had me worried this year because we've had an unusually long cold winter (I actually had an INCH of snow in my yard last week!) and my boat trailer had a flat. Saltwater corroded all the way through and air leaked out through the dang rim!

But, fortunately the wakeboarding Godz smiled on me and it all came together yesterday. I got the wheel replaced, the air temps hit mid 60's, and the wind... died. Its a rare day when you can ride in the Calibogue Sound right in front of the Harbourtown lighthouse.

Though I only got out twice in January, I did get to go snowboarding that month so I'm happy about that.

December was good too....

Spring is right around the corner here in coastal SC...and I can't wait! Cool

Nice Pic HHI_Dave, I used to live in Charleston area, but did not wakeboard then sadly. I have been to that lighthouse before and it did not look like an area where you could board.

Our season in Bahrain really does not end. My buddies wear wetsuits, and the water dropped to about 67 degrees this year. I have enough blubber, or have not been out here long enough to care, so 67 degree water was not bad for me. Now the water is about 73 degrees and the Air temp is getting into the upper 80's.

I look forward to the high temps of summer now, but I know then I will be looking forward to cooler weather. It would be nice if the air temp was 110 and the water was 70, but you would probably have a heart attack when you fell in.

Last Friday the water temp was 77F

Posterchild, I was stationed in Bahrain during Desert Storm. Of course, wakeboarding didn't really exist back then. Are there lakes??

HHI_Dave, Nah, no lakes here, just some manmade islands that have jetty's built around them to keep the beaches calm. We wakeboard inside of those breakwaters. We wakeboard at Amwaj Islands, and my buddy keeps his boat parked right outside his back door. Its a pretty sweet setup.

Our only concern is the upcoming heat, and the very high salt content of the water. It really cleans your sinuses out when you faceplant. Also I am a little worried about the Jellyfish. There are tons of them, luckily their sting is not very potent. They have not shown up yet this season though (our 1st season wakeboarding out here).

/Cheers, JP

Hoping to start at the end of spring break (mid march) this year. We have had a super cold and snowy winter but the lake is pretty much clear of ice and the streak of flurries every day for 9 of 10 days ended and it cracked 40 degrees for the first time in like a month all on this past sunday, so things are looking up. Laughing
