I have been doing my best for the past few seasons to try to work on and off the water on new tricks. I just cant for the life of me get the right feel when I am on a tramp. I have had a trampoline my whole life and have no trouble doing many inverts and what not on it. I just think I have trouble figuring out how to use the line tension while in the air. Even on tricks I have already conquered on the water, I cant reproduce with a rope and tramp. I beat myself up and then because I cant do it on a tramp, I am to chicken to try it on the water. A whirly is a perfect example of this, but even a common scarecrow is really tough for me on a tramp. I guess I was just hoping that someone might could shine a little light on the subject for me. I may just be the only one with this trouble and be outta luck. Thanks...

The beauty of tramp jumping is that its free and you can do it all day. Just keep at it. Also where the rope is tied off to makes a big difference.

try having just a little bit of slack in the rope and slighly jump away from the rope to simulate some line tension when you need it during the trick. the only thing you gotta remember is once you pull on that rope, you loose the line tension and move forward on the tramp. so dont have you handle right in the middle of the tramp, lengthen it just a bit or you will end up on the springs. the more line tension you need for the trick, the harder you jump away from the rope.

i have also found that having the rope tied slighlty higher than sholder height when standing on the tramp, and not having the rop too long. all the times i have done this the one i liked the most was about 8-10 foot of rope, tied to a tree about 6 inches higher than my shoulder when standing on the bar and springs.

hype9107, So are you saying holding the handle, I should be between the middle of tramp and front? I have been having it right in the middle. I may not be jumping against the rope enough...

On both of those tricks, they are hard to do with a lot of line tension. On a scarecrow you pretty much absorb all of the line tension when you're coming off the wake, which makes the flip and rotation almost tensionless.

Same thing with the Whirly. I couldn't land it on the tramp until I let the line out a bit.

I tie the rope out to the middle of the tramp so I actually jump slightly on the backside of the tramp and can pull forward if needed.

Thanks for the input guys.. I figured out, alot had to do with which shoulder was (lead or back) was higher. Most of the time I had it reversed on the tramp. Kyle at learnwake helped me figure it out. well worth it if your serious about learning! I went from something that looked nothing like a whirly to something that I think looks really close to one.. Cant wait to get on the water to try this dude out...
