Ihave been riding for 4 years now and for the past 2 I have been riding a Ronix Covin 138. At the end of last season I got to hit some rails we made on the river behind an ATV which was a blast but my Covin looks trashed, so I figured I'd downgrade (or upgrade) it to the rail/river board and buy a new board for the boat. I have really been looking hard at the Company Recruit 139.

My question is what are the con's of a flex board behind the boat? I won't hit the cable (Im in Canada so no cables) or sliders with this board. I took a freinds Company for a quick set last year and really liked it although it was a bit big for me (143). So what are the drawbacks of a flex board?

Well for one thing it's good you tried one out and liked it... some people just don't like the way they edge and pop.

The only cons are in personal preference. There is no definite con such as; they don't pop or the edge is magnetized to the bottom of the lake causing the most insane faceplants ever.

I've been in love with my slingshot since I got it. I went out and hopped back on the Trip towards the end of last season just for old times sake and hated the way the stiff board rode to me. Felt like a truck with no shocks. So if you have already test rode and liked it, just make the jump and enjoy it.

I rode a CSV1 (covin) all last year and tried a company Severance two weeks ago. I anticipated a big difference in pop, approach, landings etc like I had experienced on the old Slingshots. I don't consider myself a "flex" guy and the board worked great for me and I changed nothing about my riding. The company board are very stiff through the belly and only flexy on the tips. As far as the company boards go, I don't know if there is a down-side at all.

I have a Slingshot Response, and rode a LF Substance before. No matter how much I loved that Substance, I think my SS is worlds better in many ways. I don't think that there are any major drawbacks to a flex board behind a boat. If you like to mess around on the surface like I do, then it's a definite GO. But, W2W is no slouch either. I love the way it hits the wake, and it's consistency is awesome (it's a continuous rocker on mine), and height is very floaty and poppy.

I went ahead and ordered the Company Recruit 139. I'll give it a go this season and if I don't like it I can always buy another board. heck part of the fun is just looking at them.
