your thoughts?
cant say i particularly cared for my 08 Shane CTs, and came across these at a proshop while staying here in houston.
i really liked what i saw with the reliks, more up my alley than the one's.
anyway, just curious if anyone has riden the reliks, and your thoughts, what other bindings have you riden?
thanks! _________________

| STANG KILLA SS, just be careful that it's not too low on your leg that you might twist an ankle. They have very low support so that's my only concern... |

yeah my wife rides the relik's - loves them! got them strapped on a PS3 - kids also have a pair on thier hyperlite - kids are doing the tourney's and I've heard no complaints... about their gear anyhow....
I ride the SS response with the D2's - last boot was a pair of the byerly's hooked up to an older LF - also rode the LF element - didn't much care for that set-up. now the LF element is hooked to the LF Omega board and it's my loaner set-up for the less fortunate riders in the boat... |

thanks holds, yeah i prefer a shorter flexy boot, but im on pace to stomp my first invert and 3 this upcoming season so injuries are a concern for me. a good point for sure.
good to hear, keep the reports coming. going back to the proshop to try a set on this morning. i want to be sure to get them tight this time. i think my 10-11 shanes might be a hair too big. ill probly try the 10 Ronix first. _________________

STANG KILLA SS, yea i had 10-11 watsons and went with the 10 Ronix one. You really don't want any extra room in a CT.. Once they're molded they'll expand a bit if they're too snug and fit like a glove after a few sets.
Curious though, what made the reliks more up your alley compared to the ones? I too would be worried about the lack of support with the Reliks. I feel like the ones are a great middle ground between the support of the Cell and flex of the Relik. My ones were a lot stiffer straight out of the box compared to how they are now... pretty flexy/supportive. If the stiffness pushed you away that is. _________________ Wake Forest University |

well we went back to the proshop today, and then ended up finding out the huge Houston boat show was going on so we made the drive to see that before heading back home.
the ronix relik 9s seem to fit REALLY good. toes just touching the front at rest. i tryed some 10 ones and there was just a bit of room at the front.
could definatly feel the difference in latteral support between the two. the guy at M2 said the same thing as holds, that becarefull as to lake of support, his buddy had just blown out his ankle in reliks.
i just like the feel of shorter flexy boots. my shanes just feel like half leg casts.
but until now boots have been kind of imaterial. as i plan to start inverts and finally land a 3 all hopefully this summer. so im a bit worred about injury with all the falls. i also prefered the looks of the reliks over the ones and REALLY fell in love with there light weight. my guess is i would probly be happy with a properly fitting one (size 9 i need instead of the size 11 the shanes are)
still undecided and definatly looking for more input from you experts here.
on a side note the houston boat show was pretty sweet. getting to see all the 2010 boats, board and bindings. happen to run into the hyperlite rep there. and he got me to try on a set of the 2010 mereks. WOW that new lacing system was incredible. simply the fastest, best and incredible sinch ive ever seen on a binding, damn things just bear hug ya. he also mentioned he switched from the merik he rode last year to a 2010 murray for this year. had it for 2 months and about 40 sessions and says he really likes the new board, i have the admit the pro version with the strata was super light even with the metal fins. the red ONE board looks insanely good in person. slingshot graphics were much improved as well. got to see a systemec 2.0 cable up and working at the show as well. guy had a new 730' 2.0 he was just putting in to open soon. 2010 boats were all pretty sick as well. but we didnt spend much time on them as we did the gear.
anywho, definatly would appreciate any guidance on the relik vs one bindings..... _________________

| STANG KILLA SS, the 2010 Ones are a little tighter than the 09's (not sure if you've tried those). They're still a very, very comfortable boot and I have no complaints with them other than the fact that I liked the 09's a little bit better. The 2010 Cells are the exact same thing as the 09 Ones though. Comparing to the Reliks, they feel a little stiffer only because they support higher but still provide a great amount of flexibility and comfort. |

STANG KILLA SS, I also came across this same dilemma. I loved the look and feel of the Reliks, but heard about their lack of ankle support. After reading up I found that the Ones have good support while remaining pretty lightweight and comfy. Because I suffered a bad ankle injury in the past (non-wakeboarding related) I decided to go with the Ones. So far I am really happy and I have read nothing but great reviews for the Ones all over the web. Don't know if this helps, but I thought I would throw it out there. Let us know.
P.S. I went with the 09 Ones and got a pretty good deal from Evo-Gear.com. I don't know what your price range is, but there are some good deals around on the net. _________________ www.shredthreadsink.com - T-Shirts, Forum, etc. |

thank you very much for the insite on your decision.
any info or experience helps.
yeah i would be getting 09 reliks or ones, not the 2010.
the two things that hold me back on the ones, is the looks, and higher/stiffer boot.
im sure id love them though.
other than ankle support the reliks are perfect in my book. _________________

These two reasons are why it took me forever to make my decision as well. The Reliks are sick looking. _________________ www.shredthreadsink.com - T-Shirts, Forum, etc. |

hey mate,
i bought 09 reliks last year to stick on my csv1. amazingly light set up ! extremely comfortable bindings and look great ! despite the fact they are a little low on the leg, i still felt i had great support around my ankles. i did, however, manage to slightly strain my achilles tendon once or twice - cant remember if it was landing funny or screwin up a toeside powerslide on a turn - anyway, it wasnt too serious and didnt stop me from riding. but ... in 2007 and 2008 i was riding open toe cwb factions on my covin board (my first setup) and even though i had only just started riding i loved those bindings for their snug fit - you just cant beat that hinge system for locking down your heels. and thats where the problem is with the reliks. heel lift. another guy who rides where i do also had the reliks and changed out his boots for that reason. when you try the bindings on they feel great and you dont really notice it much but as you start getting more confident with a new setup it does become noticeable. ronix throws "j-bars" into the box with the bindings. these L-shaped hard little cushions are to be inserted into the boot and sit above the back of the ankle so that when you tighten up you are supposed to get less heel lift. well, damn it, if my wife didnt toss them out at some stage before i had the chance to use them. now, maybe, they do make all the difference but ... in my opinion, they were not originally designed to be part of the binding but probably included after as a fix to the heel lift problem. for some reason i am not sure why i do feel loya1 to ronix - i just love the style and feel of their boards - so i do feel a little sad the bindings dont quite do it for me cuz they definitely look awesome. stang, it sounds like you are at a similar level in riding to where i am and maybe a year or 2 ago i would not even have noticed a slight heel lift. now i do. i am probably going to buy new bindings before the season starts and because of my experience with the faction binding it looks like i will probably go with the 2010 closed toe model. my 2008 OT factions were unfortunately pretty heavy but my research tells me the 2010 bindings are very light in line with what most companies are doing. the cwb hinge for ease of getting in and out and the locked in and locked down fit sold me. of course i dont have a lot of experience with other bindings and i am sure there are a bunch of equally as good boots made by other companies on the market. anyway, sorry ronix, love ya stuff - i am easily the only foreign resident in korea rockin your stuff so send me some stickers so i can keep pluggin for ya. throw in some more j-bars and maybe my heel lift problems will disappear. the wife says sorry for a being a dumbie and tossin the last ones out. _________________ new knees please |
