i can already do a hs 360, so i have the handle pass down, but i need some tips on how to nail a heelside 540, i can already do the rotation, and the handle pass but i lose my center of gravity and end up landing like leaning backwards and i cant ride off, i thought i culd land this easily, but i guess i underestimated it, id really appreciate it if some 1 culd help me out

so your sliding out on your heels? Sounds to me like your under rotating. just pull it around as hard as you can and really concentrate on staying over your toes so you can ride away. also can you grab your heel 3? if you dont have enough time to grab it you probly wont be able to do a 5

not really on my heels cuz im regular and i gotta land goofy, i cant grab a 3, but i knoe i have time in the air to do it, i can rotate the 5 already with barely any air the problem just is the landing, i land with my board in front of me, and me behind it, i cant really explain it but i can give u a caption drawing on how the board looks when i land in a switch goofy stance
M = me
/ = board
B = boat
---- = line M/-----------------B
so the board is tilted in that shape when i land, it shuld be tilted like this = __ not like /
srry im makin it so complicated, i cant think of a better way to explain it, and i really wana land this

ilovepooters01, how are your hs 180s?

Learn to have big consistent hs 180s is crucial so your switch toeside landings are solid, it will make it much easier.

Other than that like these guys said just get over your toes

You first should learn how to land switch. You can train this by doing alot of ollie 180s, and W2W Hs 180s, Go massive on those!

Once you got that down. Try it again, youll be alot more confident at landing switch...

Its almost the same with blind... First to Fakie, then Ollie Blind, then Raley Blind, always take small steps so you will learn faster, and easier.

i can get my heelside 180s most of the time, i have a good consistent landing on em, but theres a catch, i find it easier landing with the rope in my rite hand and not in both hands, when i land in a switch goofy stance after a 180 and i try to land with both hands on the rope i lose it and i end up fallin back wards

theres nothing wrong with that. if your landing goofy your right hand is your front hand. what makes a good 5 is getting the rope back to your right hand after you do the handle pass. and not just doing a hip turn with the rope in you left(now back hand) which is sketchy

Its just what you prefer, With backrolls i hold on to the handle with both hands while with Frontflips i let go of my back hand.

Its a difference in Balance or Strenght, both are good, do what feels most comfortable for you.

i agree with all of these guys. big frontside 180's into the flats will help with your landing switch. keep your weight over your toes, land with the hadle in your right, and if you can keep the handle in tight to your hip, that always helps. good luck let us know!

The HS 5 is very hard to land...many people (including me) have had the same problem, where they slide out and fall on their butt. A couple tips-
1.) Learn your HS 3s landing with both hands on the handle
2.)Start spinning a little later to help you get your weight centered (see #3)
3.)This is the tough part, no matter how good your HS 180s are, getting over your toes on a 5 is still hard. I do grab 180s way into the flats but I still fall back on 5s sometimes. The key is getting your whole body (especially your chest) up and over your board so you can get over your toes. If the board is out in front of you, youre going to slide out, just like on HS 180s. But; this is much harder to do on a 5, same concept though. Different things work for different people, but a couple things to try are:
A)Think about doing a HS 180 first where you think about getting over your toes in landing position and then once you feel like your weight is getting over your toes, finish the last 360. It sounds weird but that worked for me last summer. You dont actually pause at 180, its just a mental thing...a thought process that helps you get your weight over your toes.
B) Wait very long to spin, pop and get set with your weight over your board then spin.
C)Try to really get the handle to your hip as you land or even behind it (toward your butt). This will help you get your chest over your toes and rotate the entire 540 so you land on a strong TS edge vs landing flat.

Good luck
