| You can get a new moomba mobius for around $30,000 (correct me if I'm wrong). Ask around about them-I've heard they sacrifice things to get the price so cheap. You know the saying "you get what you pay for". Well, in a way it's true, BUT some people are going to knock it JUST because it's newer and doesn't cost as much. |

The mooma doesnt "sacrifice" things. They just dont add some of the fancy extra stuff that others do. The actual boats are well built with quality materials its just some of the fancier things inside the boat and stuff they dont add. But for the price you cant beat 'em. _________________ www.krookedminds.com

"Sacrifice" was hearsay-but it was from reliable sources (owner's of the boat) Maybe sacrifice was the wrong choice of words... don't get me wrong- I love the way the boat looks!! I'm just saying that if you know of anyone that own's one, ask them how they feel about it.
What is it that they don't put inside the boat that other's do? |

IMO The difference between a Moomba and the "Big 3" boils down to two things
1. Moombas "fit and finish" is not as complete. Example look at how the dashboard fits to the fiberglass on any Moomba, Not perfect but adequate. Other examples are lighter weight standard carpet, fewer options on colors and gelcoat configuration, etc
2. Moomba has no "team riders" a very expensive piece of promotion thats cost has to go somewhere. Right to the sticker price of the boat.
Don't be fooled by salesmen or some parrot on this board repeating what they have heard. Big 3 builds quality boats no doubt, you have to decide if what they offer is worth an extra 10-20 grand for. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

I am in the same boat as you wakeboardr842, (no pun intended), and I have been looking at the 01' and 02' hurricane's and cyclones from Ski Centurion. Good build,, great layout, nice amneties(sp?). Price range seems right at 25-30. Just another choice! _________________

| I got quoted $28,000 for a new Mobius LSV, with perfect pass, tower, racks, tower speakers, and built in ballast. List was like around $36K I believe, just play a few dealers against each other. If i was going to go new, this is the boat I would get great wake and great price. I used to own a new Mobius serveral years back and never had any problems with it, just sold it to buy a house. |

| I have looking at Wakeboarding boats myself in the $30,000 price range. I have a runabout - cost me $23,000 with the trailer. I think I will sell it in 2 years for $12,000 - $15,000 and upgrade. I really like what I see in the Centurion models - especially the overall value and the layout. |

"some parrot on this board repeating what they have heard"...OUCH, that hurt.
okay, okay... just because you think you know what you're talking about doesn't mean you have to start calling names.
My hearsay is more than hearsay-I was just trying NOT to go around bashing boats. They all have their pro's and con's.
My friend sold his new mobius within the first couple of months of buying it. It could have been a lemon, that's why I said ask around.
His Problems:
1. Boat shook at 30mph (fine at about 20mph)
2. Driver seat came fell off of the piece that's attatched to the floor
3. The seams in the upholstry started coming undone (more so than with normal wear and tear.)
4. Hull "seemed" flimsy (so much that after riding the windshield would almost fall through the opening, my boat seems to do the opposite of this-so maybe it's not a big deal)
5. Engine problems (within first few weeks of owning boat, come on now, that just doesnt seem right)
if you're interested in moomba, check out the message board at www.moomba.com, there's some good info there.
and I'll try not to repeat myself anymore eeven |

Yeah, and even if you have to settle for a boat you wouldnt like, the purpose of a wakeboard boat boils down to throwing a monster wake. You can easily buy a boat for a lot cheaper than the big three, and then invest all that extra money in some fat sacs and ballast and you've got that nice wake. Sure, you might not look as pimp, but you will have some fun times riding. _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

I have a 03 Mobius LSV no problems as of yet, but it is only about a month old. I will have 20 on it by next weekend. Has been a great boat. I looked at Master Craft and Nautique, and saw there prices. I was thinking about getting a used boat, and looked in to Moomba. Haven't looked back for the price you don't get the extra options, but hey I have 25000 to 35000 on the Nauti or MC. _________________ 03 Moomba Mobius LSV

It very funny how theese post come up"the best". First, you gotta give us somemore info on what you mainly will be doing with the boat. Second, you gotta let us know how many people you mainly ride with. Third, you gotta let us know what type of wake shape you like. That is basically the factor's in buying a boat in a nut shell.
Personally, I would not buy anything but a malibu or a Nautique. I have been behind my fare share of boats and they all have there own qualities. If you look at the total package there is nothing that compares to those two boat companies.
You are making a big investment and I would take my time and research and actually weight and ride behind the boats you are looking at. The handling will be alot different as well as the wake. _________________ If you wanna make it,

Personnaly I would recommend a used Malibu. You can get a great boat that is not too old and in great condition in that 20-30k range. It will have alot of the higher end items, and won't cost the same as a new boat. As long as the hours aren't extremely high, than I think you should go for the used. _________________ Pulling fat people out of the water is fun...I get to use my engine. |

used wakesetter maybe not a VLX ....
I would go with the V210 - they have AWSOME wakes and you could get one with low hours _________________ Got premier? |

Paige,
IMO if all the stuff you listed was happening to a boat only a few months old it sounds like some warranty issues. Also it is my opinion that the Moomba line has made great strides in quality 2001-2003. I feel directly related to new management of the company. If you read my post I specifically said that the Big3 build great boats, that really cant be debated. However I hate to see people stuck in a big3 or nothing mindset. There are a few other boat companies that make a great product besides the big3 Skiers Choice(supra and moomba) Sanger, Calabria, etc _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

Lots of good boats out there, new or used in the upper $20k range. Of course the big3 are nice, but go sit in everything at local dealers and see what fits you and your style preferences. Sit in the driver's seat and move it around - you'll be sitting there a lot (when you're not riding you'll almost definitely be driving). Get your wife/girlfriend to sit in the bow - is it comfortable. Look at how easy it is to access the engine (all around) for replacing parts/maintenance (my friend's Malibu's side panels come off for easier access). Also really check out the local dealer's reputation - you may need him in the future. If one boat seems more practicle, but you just can't keep your eyes off another, then go with the latter so you won't kick yourself while on the water look at that boat. Good luck and enjoy shopping.

| Its definetly personaly preference, but I have a 2001 Moomba Outback, no problems and i have about 185 hours on it. The thing i was most worried about buying a used boat was reliability, when I was looking, the used Nautiques I could afford had about 500 hours on em and wernt as roomy as the Outback, so I went for the new boat. I was looking in the low 20 range though so you might have a different set of used boats to look at |

| Sanger v210, very nice boat and it handles rough water really well. Don't like the guages very much though. They also make like 400 boats a year compared to 3500 from other boat makers, to me this means more time spent on the boat and less competition to get your boat in for service if something did happen to it. |
