Wondering what invert most people attempted first - a backroll or tantrum.
Going give it shot this weekend and not sure if one is easier than the other. Since they are different techniques, it may not even make a difference but figured I'd at least ask the question.

The first one I ever did was the backroll. From what I have heard people say that the tantrum is the easier of the two. However I feel that the edge teqhnique at the wake makes it harder thats just my opinion however when you get the edge right the trick kind of throws itself. I say give both a couple tries and see which one you feel most comfortable with and then keep trying to perfect it before you move on.

What skinnyrider24 said. It's a preference thing, whatever ends up being more comfortable. I learned backrolls first but they took me a long time. I landed the 3rd tantrum I ever tried though (but didn't even try them until a year after learning a roll. It also probably helped that I was at the Wakeboard Camp for that but for backrolls, I just kind of kept hucking them until I landed some.)

Pretty much like these guys I learned a backroll first, which took me a zillion tries. Then I landed a tantrum about a month after on my second try. To be honest neither of those inverts hurt much when you crash (most of the time) so like they said give them both a shot.

The backroll is a very easy rotation though, there isn't really much technique that you need to master like the trip flip of the tantrum. Just make sure you hold your edge all the way through the wake on the backroll, don't half ass it, and you will be fine.

let us know how it goes!

i learned the tantrum first cause i thought it was easier and i didnt wanna worry about faceplanting by not getting the rotation.. and the tantrum is just like a backflip on a divingboard

Not good. Attempted the backroll about 10 times. It was more like a half-ass off axis spin.

dalderman, haha, just keep at it. Going upside-down while being pulled by a boat at 20mph is a little awkward at first. Jut remember to really use your edge and pop off the wake.
