Hi all,
Im from downunder (New Zealand) and will be importing a new boat here soon (Sanger V210) for boarding.
At the same time i thought i would try and get a board and some bindings sent over at the same time as i wouldnt be paying for shipping.
I currently ride a CWB 141 Pure with the Torq bindings (which i love) and am really only at the 360's sort of stage.
Im 6'0 and around 200lbs.
Should i go and buy a pro model level board or is what im riding at the moment fine? I like the fact the bindings are so easy to get into so are a bit hesitant to try the closed boot series that most reccomend? Would stepping down to a 139 offer any real benefit?
Ive heard great things about the S4 but think 138 may be a little small for me? What bindings do people reccomend also? CWB hinge tech bindings dont seem to have such great reviews.
Thanks |

I ride an advanced level board and really like it, also rode a pro level this year (Murray P.I.F. board) and it was great. I would say at your level a pro board would be a good choice. My brother has a pair of the hinge's and I don't really care for them, they are xxl and I can barley get my size 12 feet in 'em. I ride with a pair of Murray CT's and really love 'em they keep my feet locked in and are very easy to get into and out of, and more comfortable them any other bindings I've used. _________________

I like to think that if i'm going to drop money on a board, that i should get a board that i can work into, and not a board that i grow out of.
I have an Obrien Clutch 137 right now but plan on moving up to something like an Obrien Vice since thats their pro level board, and i'm just starting to cross the wake heelside...
And the closed toe bindings are amazing. I have obriens Vice bindings which is their pro model and they are closed toe...most amazing binding ever. Excellent ankle support, feet are always tight in them, and i don't even have to get the bindings wet to get my feet into them. _________________ Need riders in the Fort Collins, CO Area! |

Boost Deuce, The Vice is a good board, but I can barely ollie on it at all.
BWake, if you're doing 3s, you would appreciate a pro model quite a bit. _________________

Sweet man. I was in NZ (Queenstown) in March. Loved it there.
Generally with "Pro-model" boards:
Sharper edges - allow you to cut harder but will catch an edge easier meaning more faceplants
Bigger rocker - allow you to pop higher/more straight up if your timing is right. If it's off you'll get less pop and less control.
Softer landings on some models. Look for a center spine (Marius, Watson, Shane) or flexible (Slingshot). _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Wakebrad - Glad you visited man. Queenstown would have been bloody cold in the water in March even though it was one of our hotter months.
If i went for say a Hyperlite Murray (or S4) with CWB Answer bindings would that do the trick nicely? |

The Ronix one looks good also. Has anyone ridden either or these and what did you think?
Thinking of buying a blem board from Evogear, what are these usually like? Massive blems or just tiny ones? |

It's been a while since I've kept up with all of the new stuff out there. You should be able to check out the stats on the board to get an idea of how they ride. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Ended up getting a ps3 blem in 141 with cwb answer bindings. From what i read a good combo to have, although ive heard the ps3 boards are pretty heavy?
Will be interesting to see how the blem looks but its going to be over a month until i actually get to see it anyway. |
