when i throw my backroll, i am getting enough rotation and height but i land in the position with the board perpendicular to the boat. like i'm in the position to waterski. and when i land, i fall on my ass in that position and the handle pops out. i know theres a shitload of backroll help on here, but i was wondering if anyone had this specific problem thatd be awesome if ya help me out.

two things. one, try keeping the handel more towards your front hip (left if reg, right if goofy) or even drop your back hand part way through. another thing is i don't know if you do this but i did, i would throw it kind of away from the boat, throw the trick more perendicular to the pull of the boat or maybe even towards it a little.

yeah dropping the back hand really helped me, I had the same prob, would land side on and skip out, when you spot your landing just let go with your back hand

I land square to the boat some times still but it's not really an issue. If you are landing on your HS edge you should be able to ride away still. I would definitely pay attention to the handle placement during the approach and trick it's self, Don't let it out, keep it in tight to the hips, makes the trick super easy.

I noticed this happens to me sometimes mostly when I pull the handle in to my right hip ( I ride regular) so when you finish your rotation ease up on the handle. I f your landing sitting down you probly need to spot your landing a little more. I still screw this up a lot though

Tried my first backroll the other night. Not even close. Screwed up so bad I almost landed and off axis 360 though! Maybe I should switch tricks.

sambo, you're not used to rotating with a taught rope in your hands. You'll have to get the feel for what will work or what won't on a trampoline (or off a diving board). If you keep the rope in at your center, you can follow a quick cartwheel motion, but if you let the rope away from that center, or try to turn a traditional flip, you'll go off axis as you described.

usually if your falling on your butt, you probably just need a little more pop. falling back is caused by not being able to spot the wake soon enough to prepare for the landing, get more pop or rotate faster and you'll get it.

Look to the shore more too, that will help you ride away.
