hold your edge all the way through the wake. You're laying off your edge and practically standing all the way up like 3 feet away from the wake.

You should be pushing all the way through the wake and away from the boat with your edge, not cutting in and then hucking the flip. The flip is a side effect of your edge/approach really, you shouldn't really be having to "throw" it.

Still very close though, you could probably ride away from it if you just had a death grip on the handle.

Keep edging all the way through and the rotation will feel more natural. As Kyle says on the book "This trick shouldn't be thrown.. it throws itself."

I have the same problem; will it kick you into full rotation on a smaller wake, or do you have to put more effort in to continue the rotation?
I only get halfway round and then fall from the sky onto my head!!!

Mr Magoo, it'll be harder on a smaller wake for sure because it's probably less poppy. The rotation should be the same. Load and release, put your head and shoulders into the rotation. You may be stopping your head. I know, on skis atleast, if you stop looking over your shoulder you stop spinning.

i always load my front foot right before the wake. It seems to help me ride all the way up the wake, rotate faster, and go higher...but thats IMO. I just started doing that this year and have been doing backrolls for several years now.

I'm just starting to overcome the urge to "throw" the flip as well. You feel it when it's right. I'm at death grip stage, and don't let my feet slide out the front of the binding stage as well. Laughing

Mr Magoo, I was riding behind a very small wake the first two or three times I tried. Like was said, the rotation is the same, you just have focus on a very quick load and release so you don't sacrifice any height. That was my biggest problem, but then again, I still haven't ridden away from one. Sad
