|

What experience do people have wakeboarding behind any of the large sterndrive bowriders around out there? I have not had a chance to but I'm interested in hearing what it is like. I'm wondering about the 24' to 26' range, some of which have great layouts and lots of creature comforts.
Here is my guess but again this is not from experience:
Pretty good pull out of the hole (if they have Bravo 3 or the equivalent Volvo set up connected to a powerful v8 engine)
Pretty good at giving a solid pull (again, with the right outdrive)
The wakes are probably good sized due to their weight but also soft
Keeping wakeboard speed is probably tough for most drivers
The wakes probably wash out with foam at the top |

| Looks to me like you pretty much answered your own question. I think it is very tough to get a clean wake at riding speeds with most I/O's, then like you said the wake is often soft. I have a friend that had a 26 foot Chaparral that had trim tabs on it (not sure if most of the bigger boats have trim tabs?) and we all thought that the trim tabs were part of the problem with ruining the wake. |

| I have a 23' Crownline, with an Alpha drive. We have 4 kids so we need a family boat. It throws a nice wake and I've added an insanity pylon. It is a quick set up or tear down to revert to or from the family boat to the wakeboard boat. I'm going to try a 4 blade prop next summer to make it easier to hold speed. A good driver can eliminate most problems but it takes some work. A bravo 3 drive would eliminate most of the problems I'm sure. |

Northeast, I used to have a SeaRay 240BR.
The specs were:
24'9", 108" beam, 454MAG + BIII, trim tabs
The thing was a beast. I never got the wake right, and I too think the trim tabs were to blame. It was always washed over and very soft.
Had no problem pulling out the rider. I think it could have pulled out a freaking bridge pylon with that setup. _________________
