NKCrider, Are you joking? His work is stunning and a passion of his is his boat. Whats the deal with calling him stupid? If you don't appreciate it thats cool but don't call the guy stupid for spending his cash however he chooses... not like hes doing any harm with a few lights on his boat.... Grant does crazy work on his Air Nautique, which has become famous in the wakeboard world... _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk

Huge second. Even if you don't like his stuff, you should have some appreciation for how much work and effort goes into it. Nothing but respect for Grant here.
I personally like how it turned out, if I partied out in the boat more often I'd definitely think about doing something like it. _________________ wakeboards wakeboarding

i think what he was trying to say is that $2k light install is a bit "extravagant" especially in the eyes of us on a serious budget (rare on this board) he has more money in lights and stereo than what i paid for my entire boat and gear.
in no way knocking the killer work and professional install. being a novice fabricator i can appreciate that for sure.
found this in the thread costs
$180: aluminum
$250: fabricator
$100: underwater connector
$499: each light unit. and thats on a current sale until the 28th. he had 4 of them.

STANG KILLA SS, oh for sure man... same, I could never drop the kind of coin that Grant spends, but I love to look at the pics and read his write ups none the less.
Not sure how many years you've been following Grants work but the stereo has been re-done several times - each time it gets better and better. I'm actually scared to think of the money that has been pumped into his baby but one things for sure - Its awe-inspiring.
DRAGON88, I actually put just 2 of the OceanLED Amphibian lights on a customers boat a few weeks ago... worked out pretty well and if you spread the beam a bit more than I did you'd get a nice spread (our aim was just the rooster tail, not the wakes)... total cost was around $600 _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk

Video here.... (Maybe skip to the bit where its actually dark... last 30 secs or so is me wakeboarding and the customer wakesurfing on the lit up rooster tail)
Brit Rider, easy on jumping my ass bro. im just saying that his install is one grand under what i bought my boat for a year ago. thats a little excessive, like i said IMO he has too much money. but he can spend it how he wants to. im not dogging his works or his passion, its just dumb in my eyes to spend 2k on some leds to go underneath my boat... _________________ Lanexa VA
He says that the drag is minimal and the water just seems to churn under there. I don't see how, but I've got no basis in engineering. It could be that directly behind the boat like that the water is being pushed out and down, so there is no real drag.
With my boat weighted down my swimdeck stays in the water. I would think that with my boat the drag with that type of bracket would cause stress on the mounts for the back deck.
That being said, I don't want to see what's in my nasty a$$ lake.
seems like it would be just like a malibu wedge in the stow position. Tucked up right underneath the swim platform, it never even touches the water at wakeboard speeds and you can see it clear as day when you're riding.
brew, most swim decks do when the boat is loaded but is it still when you're at wakeboard speeds? _________________ Wake Forest University
Props to the work effort put in to that for sure. I like the in-water LED's but that in combination with the red ones in the pictures make the boat look like a mobile strip club. Although I guess that's not necessarily bad...

NKCrider, So you say he is stupid with his money but you aren't bagging on him for it... Makes no sense to me.
Its a cool project which I couldn't afford to do, but I can appreciate that if you can, and have the desire to do so then power to you for pushing the envelope. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk

That's just a big ol glass of hateraid right there. Too much money???? That's comical. If you had it, you wouldn't think you have too much. Don't hate the player because you can't play the game. The guy obviously makes good money, and he spends what he makes doing what he enjoys - pimpin' out his SAN. I can pretty much guarantee that he's happier and more conent than those who think he's stupid for doing so.
02lightning, where's those new pics of your 230 anyway? I've only seen one with the Z5 and weren't you getting some wetsounds? _________________ Wake Forest University

Yeah, I've been waiting to take some pics once the trailer is finished. Boatmate is picking it up today and taking it to Maryville. They're adding a spare tire mount and five 18x9 KMC rockstars. They have to widen the fenders a bit and so some other stuff. When I get it all back next week, I plan on taking a bunch of pics of everything and posting them up.
Brit Rider, Swass, SORRY... Let me appease the aftermarket wakeboard boat gods by saying: "Holy crap that is an amzaing fabrication and stunning application of underwater LEDs." _________________ Lanexa VA
Easy on the kid! Until you have made a significant amount of money it is hard to imagine how easy it is to spend! Especially when there is always more coming it seems. _________________ Just trying to find my piece of the pie!
I have to say that looks pretty awesome. 2k is pretty steep but still seeing the pictures of rolling your own led bar with the welder made me see myself. Wonder if I'll be doing the same thing "some day".
As far as the debate about how money is spent and everything, I'm sure both people understand both sides roughly, let's just carry on and look at the pretty pictures (I think we can all agree the blue light is purrty) _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before.

Alright, I hate navigating wakeworld... does anyone know how to search by poster or anything so I can look up some of his previous projects? Or maybe some links? Very impressive work

Not for me, but that's a sick DIY effort.
I thought the same thing! Lets all chip in and send a portable stripper pole to him?
