I am 22 years old and have just begun cable wakeboarding. I am beginning to get a little frustrated. I really want to learn this stuff, but after having spent 2+4+2 hours I still can’t make the first corner and I am not seeing any progress. Most of the time I get up on the board but when I reach where the cable turns direction I have to let go of the cable, because it is too loose.
The problem is I can’t turn direction so I get between the cones.
Have you got some advice for this?
I get all sorts of mixed recommendation. Stand straight up. Don’t stand straight up. Take the handle close to your hip. Lean forward.
I have really tried leaning forward but nothing happens(except leaning too much and then fall). The cable still drags me in the wrong direction.
I am hoping that you have some advice since I am loosing way too much money renting everything, but I also don’t want to spend money on equipment when I can’t even make one lap.
Btw is it normal that it takes so many hours to take one lap? I either see beginners who get to the first corner after 2 hours and then never see them again anymore or else I see naturals who just need 2 to 3 tries and then they are flying. |

| On the way to the corner practice turning.... unless you get to thru the cones, you will need to croutch down low and get ready for a "restart". |

I agree, If you are getting to much of a "jerk" when you go thru the corners, then take the turn a bit wider, when the cable clicks around the pully just follow it with the front of your board, If you are getting whipped around the corner then stay closer to the inside bouys. You may get more slack in the line this way, either way try staying wider of tighter until you find the right medium. _________________ www.vimeo.com/SeanCarmichael |
