|
|
Hey guys,
I have a Supra Launch 22 SSV with an after market Aerial tower. It's either 2.25" or 2.5", think it's 2.25"...
Anyhow,
I have 6 x 5.25 kicker speakers with tweeters and 2 kicker s12l7's in the boat which makes for really loud and quite decent sound quality. Then I have 2 of the kicker KMT6 in the tower, which produces loud and clear music at 80' no problem. The only downside to my audio system is that when I go out into the flats I can't hear the music anymore since the kicker KMT6's are facing straight back. Therefore I'm looking to add a pair of single tower speakers and pointing them towards the flats. Any ideas what kind of speakers I should go for? Nothing too expensive and they need to have some kind of swivel/rotating mount I guess?
Thanks,
Mike |

The Wetsounds do well in this regard...
One thing I have noticed is that the KMT6 are very directional... I've come into exactly the same issue as you before.
I would consider selling your KMT6's and hopping up to the Wetsounds pro 60's. This will get you all the sound you need where ever you are behind the boat. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

Problem is I'm in Sweden and everything is at least twice as expensive here. Therefore I was hoping to only need to buy a couple of smaller tower speakers from the states and have them shipped here.
But I agree, wetsounds would be really nice. =) |

A few weeks back I saw Exile Audio's website and saw their XM7 tower speakers. They look cool! I posted here to get info, but it was deleted because they thought it was spam. Anyway I got ahold of them and turns out they are brand new products. They swivel and have a quick disconnect removal system. I have not heard them but a local shop sells their car audio stuff and they getting some soon. Can't wait to hear them. exilecaraudio.com |

Polz - Thanks for the props.
I didnt want this to be my first post over here on wakeboarder but since our name came up I'll say, yes indeed your right about the XM7. The Exile design has a swivel mount built into the clamp that allows the user to point them any direction. It's an industry first and its patented.
Bit rider is right about those KMT's directionality. This is because that design (and most others) are based on traditional car speakers. Car speakers are typically aimed at a user that is seated 1-2 feet away from the listening position. This doesn't help a rider very much out at 80feet. Know what I mean?
So the bottom line here is if you want something to help ya out in the flats look into an HLCD design (horn loaded compression driver) and you'll be set up.
As for being in Sweden, no problem.. you can email me at brian@exileaudio.com and we'll get you a pair sent over.
peace.

Roos,
If you have the local resources, a simple rectangular 1/4-inch thick aluminum plate and a few stainless steel machine thread bolts will allow you to create an adapter to re-position your dual collars per each speaker and angle each of your existing KMT6s slightly to the outside. Wouldn't take but $40.00 in total parts (in the states), normal woodwork tooling, a drill press and tap set.
