|
|
Did some shopping today at the local sporting goods store and the sales guy was telling me that closed toe boot would give me better support and overall better performance.
They had some ronix closed toe bindings and a hyperlite state board that they would sell for $400. The bindings are 1 yr old and they were my size.
They also had a liquid force trip board for $229 on sale with open toe index bindings
both boards were in the 138 - 140 range
So what package would you purchase?
thanks for replies |

I would lean toward the trip as the better board. That's going to have a lot to do with riding style though. The Ronix bindings are really comfortable. I tried some on the other day. But, I can't offer any advice on the index. _________________

When buying a packaged deal you have to take in to consideration both parts, not just the bindings, as the difference between the two. As Christobull said, the trip is likely considered the better board of the two (of course, always up for debate but It'd be my choice out of the two).
As for the bindings, both aren't bad choices and how far did wakeboarding come before closed-toe bindings were brought in to the sport? Basically what I'm saying is, neither of these bindings will help or hinder your progression in any substantial way, so it's all up to personal preference. Try them both on, see how they feel, are they too stiff for your liking? too loose? Will a lot of people be using the same board (if so, stay away from the closed-toe)?
Overall, it seems to me like you need to come up with a small list of characteristics that you think you would like in a binding and go with the one that fits those requirements. That way you can make the decision for yourself and truly get what's best for you. |

Thanks guys for the replies
Looking for a binding that fits well and will probably only be used by me - similar to my slalom ski
The Index boot fit ok but the Ronix boots had a better feel
I like the package deal of $229 also |

We went and got my girl a board at a big box store and mixed and matched the binding/board package to fit her, never hurts to ask
To me, after almost 3 seasons, bindings are WAY more important then the board. Yeah the board shape has this and that characteristic, but if you are not comfy and locked in to your bindings it won't make a difference. _________________
