|
|
Yesterday i had my second boat session ever, it was soo much fun, i can tell you My first time wakeboarding ever was behind a boat, and i freaked out completely because of the wake, the speed, and all the faceplants.
So i went out, extremely nervous, i was cracking because of that wake Although i am doing allright behind a calbe, i was full of fear for this boatjob
Although we used a shitty boat, just a speed boat with a minor wake and limited to 35km/ph, it was still very nic
I do have some footage of my first out of two sessions, wich you can see here.
My second session, badly not on tape, i did do some w2w HS, and TS, and i also dit a HS W2W 180, wich i immediately landed, very sketchy ofcourse...
Yeah just laugh your balls of...

| ummm 35 km/h is too fast. most people only go 20 mph which is about 30 km/h. The difference in the wake at those 2 speeds is ridiculous. I can tell the speed the boat is going simply by looking at the wake. At 18mph with a 60' rope, no tower I can't jump the wake of my boat. But that's pretty much jumping right after the wake starts washing and a very wide jump to make. At 20mph i can jump the wake consistantly. This puts me right before the wake starts to wash down. And 22mph I chicken out cause I feel like I'm going too fast. haha. |

Not necessarily. Most beginners start out in this area but the more advanced ride 22+. The wake is cleaner and alot firmer |

+1 for the firmer wake. Big is one thing, but hitting a solid wake at higher speeds is way better. _________________

At 22 they're also riding a lot farther back then I normally would too. But you also forgot to take into account the boat. Medina says it was a crappy old speed boat. this would generally mean a very shallow flat hull. the faster they go the smaller the wake will be. And playing with trim on these boats in near impossable (stock boat).
I used to ride behind an old ski boat, the wake gets thin and small VERY fast. He'd be better off slowing down a bit and using a shorter rope then going balls to the wall on that type of boat. |

Enygma, maybe. A lot of factors play in, but you have to be going pretty fast before even the best ski boat looses it's wake. If it maxs out at 35km/h then I'm guessing it's a roundabout which would be a V-hull in most cases. I still ride behind a 16' roundabout with a 120hp motor from time to time, and the closer we get to 25mph, the more pop we get from the wake which is small regardless of how you look at it. _________________

Yeah I'm just assuming the same wake I used to get off the old ski boat I boarded behind. By the time you got a nice solid wake it was only 4' wide and washing out at that point. So we found it better to just shorten the rope and slow down. work on surface stuff. and try to jump the wake here and there.
I only ever went behind this boat 2 or 3 sets. I pretty much learned to get up on it and never used it again. then didn't wakeboard for a year or so and got back into it this year. So my memory could be a little fuzzy as well. haha. |

When you want to get a better wake, you might want to add some fat sacs to clean it up. Adding a small sac to the front will stiffen up the wake so you don't have to go faster and adding center/back weight will make it bigger.

With only 50 Horsepower boatmotor, that, is not a good idea. _________________

My buddies selling a 120 HP outboard, it even comes with a boat. lol.
Yeah that 50 horse motor probably had enough trouble just pulling you out of the water. Kinda sucks though. To my understanding you're mainly a cable rider. riding behind a bad boat could really ruin your view towards riding behind a boat.
I've never been cable riding, though we don't have any in my area so it's boat or nothing. |

HAHAHAHA went out behind my brothers bass boat Sat. and yeah I'll take the i/o any day, still was fun. I'll post a vid of it whenever he sends em to me. If it wasn't for the crap speed control and trying to stay on plane it woulda been great, throws a nice clean wake with the live wells filled lol.
Medina, Right on man, can't wait to see the vid. Finally becoming a "real" wakeboarder hahahahahahaha When it comes to boats we all ride what we got and make do. Let's see that vid bro _________________

That's pretty good considering the amount of times you've actually "wake"boarded. I thought for sure you were going to wipe out that one time after the slide though. _________________

| ah yes, the days of a narrow crappy wake. You'd have much more fun behind a better boat. But you work with what ya got, right? |
