2nd time out yesterday, no problems getting up and getting outside into the flats on left hand side (I am a regular foot). So my body is facing the wake and I have no problem staying outside there and cutting to go across the wake. My problem is that I can cut and head towards the wake, but once I get to the wake it seems like I can't get past it on my backside. What is the best way to go to the flats on my backside? I tried dropping my right hand but this only helped a little bit.

I don't fully understand your problem. Are you talking about crossing the wake leaning in on your toes? That's what it sounds like, and it's just a matter of twisting your upper body and pointing your lead knee at the wake while you lean against the rope. Just absorb it with both knees till you're comfortable crossing it.

Not exactly. I have no problem on the left hand side of the wake, I can get out there no problem. I then turn right and head towards the wake, I can cross it with no problem as well. It is when I get to the right hand side, I cant seem to get outside as far as I do on the other side. I lean hard to the right but can't seem to get out there.

Make sense?

Getting there. It's awkward to cut out on your toes at first because you're very twisted. Make sure your back is arched and your shoulders open up to the boat. Think about pointing your chest to the sky. Press hard with your toes and lean hard with a slight bend in your knees. It just takes practice to get used to it, and before long you should be cutting out just as far both directions. Is there anything more specific that is giving you problems? It's possible that your feet need to be more ducked out. If your binding aren't set right, it can cause any number of problems.

I remember from my surfing days the way my stance is supposed to be, I got the duck thing going Smile I will try this when we head out this weekend. On the left side of the wake I was surfing on the wake this weekend, man it was a blast! Thanks again!

Also try to put more weight on your front foot. The more of the board edge you have in the water, the better your cut will be. On your toeside it is pretty natural to lean way back on your back foot in an effort to try to avoid catching your heelside edge or put the front side (nose) under the water. Once you learn that you can lean out on both feet on that edge it will improve your toeside control and ability to pull out away from the wake by quite a bit.
