I want to know how to get more height/air on my heelside jumps. I can land far in the flat but I never seem to jump very high. I'm wondering if the problem is with my technique or with the wake because my boat is not a real wakeboard boat. I currently ride behind a 22' Inboard/Outboard with a Tower Extension and a Good Rope. I ride at 70' and about 23-24 mph I think. I'm seriously thinking about getting a new boat if it would make big difference. So what do you guys think ? Thanks a lot for the help.

The only thing I can see is maybe you are cutting out to far and building to much speed on your edge. Try a little less cut and a little more into the seated position. This should give you more up pop. It's just a guess, I have the opposite problem. Maybe one of the other guys will either back me up or see something else. _________________

Looks to me like your not setting a hard enough progressive edge, Your not spending much time in the flats to let friction slow you down so your cut out is good. But when you come back in on your heelside edge really get seated and cut hard but don't forget to let out right before the wake and stand up tall off the lip. This extra hard cut mixed with letting off your edge right before the lip will not send you rocketing into the flats but pop you up higher. Good luck |

And keep the handle in close to your abdomen or you'll face plant like that first one. |

Well, if that's really 70', you're definitely getting some good distance there. To elaborate on what these guy have already said, you want to ollie-pop the wake more to get height. In other words, knees bend in the seated position, then when you get to the wake, you want to push hard on both feet, but lean back just a little and pick up your lead leg slightly. Like an ollie, but not quite. It might take some time to get used to the right combination of those things, but other than that, you definitely want to keep your shoulders back the whole time and quit landing over your toes. _________________

Gir, what is your boat set up like? Using any ballast? Trimming the motor up at all? I was expecting to see some foam on the wake right behind where you jump, but there is none for quite a few ways back. Maybe you need to play around with the speed/trim and think about adding weight in the bow (assuming you are riding without any) to steepen that wake up a little.
23-24 seems pretty fast for an I/O, so I'd like to hear more about your setup. _________________
