big_steve, good one. Unfortunately, I only got a couple of passes at it today. . But I'll post better pics eventually. And I promise I've got the skizzles to clear it. I still have some fine tuning to do to keep it upright. It falls over pretty easily right now. Boat rollers were knocking it over today more than hitting it on a pass.
_bruky, my skank of an ex-gf brought that cone home one drunken evening. Its been in my garage for a couple of years, just waiting for its shot at immortality. The bucket was purchased at Lowe's along with the eye bolt hardware. Not shown in the pics is my ollie bucket anchor...the rear belt pulley off of an '07 Harley Road King.

| HHI Dave, Seems like all you would need is a bigger base and it should work fine. Find a bigger round float.

I like the idea. I've been wanting to find a buoy that I can ollie, but the only ones I've seen are nearly chest high. Maybe 4' out of the water. I can ollie up to my waist which I guess would be about 3'. What can I do to go higher, I seem to have reached my limit. Could a smaller board make a difference? Like a 136 instead of my 142?

Christobull, I think the bigger the board the more potential you have to ollie higher however it takes more force to push it down for that result. I'm not 100% sure but that's what's making sense in my head right now.

GnarShredd, I guess I just think the opposite. With a smaller board, you could push it down further with the same amount of force which would create more pop... maybe. I think it's weird that my vertical is only 6" shorter than my ollie. I'd expect more of a difference when I'm picking my knees to my chest, but maybe the same physics don't apply. I doubt if I'm actually jumping up more than a half of a foot out of the water. What height is would be normal for an ollie?

If that were the case, I'd be aiming to knock the hell out of it every time. Maybe you need to put something on top of the cone to cancel that out?

You're probably right. That's the only one Walgreen's had as I was on my way to the boat ramp.
Also, this was my second test of the Ollie Bucket. The first time out I didn't have the float ring and it was way top heavy before I cut the base off of the orange cone. Just a little more fine tuning and I think we'll have a winner.

Pretty slick idea, be a lot of fun once you get it dialed in.

Yeah, me too. I have a 3' construction cone that would be perfect. But, I think my strategy would be to weigh down the bucket more to keep it upright. Or just put a heavier weight attached to the bottom. How much weight do you think a 5 gallon bucket could float?

| HHI Dave, I have no idea how much your belt pulley weighs, but I feel like you need more, maybe try some cinder blocks?

Skywalker022, lol, I might have to. The cone I want to use is pretty heavy. And, My second problem is that the base is almost big enough to go around the bucket.
