My dad just bough a boat ( 99 air natique ) because hes been wanting to get back into sking and ive been wanting to wakeboard. It came with a hyperlite tfd series 136 board. I can get up and jump a little. But its time that i buy a good rope. Is this a good deal? http://www.bulletlines.com/wakeboard-Rope-s/12.htm
And i think the board is a little small for me. Im 6'2'' and about 200lbs. I read that if the board is smaller just go a little faster? Is that right? And should i start out using the ballast and fat sack or just the regular wake and wait till i get good to make a bigger wake? And is there any free wake boarding videos?

Thanks.
Any help is appricated.

ropes dont look like bad deals, boards a lil small but it wont kill your riding or progression so es go a lil faster, no weight till you have sound fundamentals... w2w both ways, a couple of 180s and/or 360.

I think any of those lines would be excellent. When you do start looking at new boards, the 140-143 range would probably suit you better, but like Prizzy said, it's not going to hurt you. It might even help you as far as board control. I'd keep the wake small until you're going w2w easily. A big wake is not only more intimidating, but also more unforgiving. That's a nice boat btw. Should throw a good wake with or without ballast.

Ya it has a pretty good wake. I like it. And alright ill wait to add some weight. What length of rope should i use? I can get up and move across the wake pretty good. I have no ide of the length of the one im currently using, but i think its a littel to short because i cant cut out that far and sometimes im just at teh start of the wake.

idahowake17, That's going to depend on your boat speed for starters. Ideally, you want to be just in front of the spot in the wake where it starts to wash over, that's where you'll get your best pop. But, most beginning to intermediate riders go with a shorter rope so the wakes are close together, especially if they ride any below 20 mph.

15 sounds like it would def. be too slow for you riding that size board, but 20 is probably about right for you to get your basics down. You just need to get comfortable with it. Just 1 mph makes a pretty big difference, so increase your speed slowly. The faster you go, the faster your face hits the water.

If you haven't ordered your rope yet, get one with removable sections so you can adjust the length to suit your needs.

JeffreyCH, good catch. I didn't even realize that only about half of those had takeoffs.
