My 10 yr old son is 4'1" and 52 pounds has been boarding for 2 years. He loves it!
We pull him at 60' and about 19mph
He rides on a Hyperlite 109 Motive
He loves boarding and can get air but can't clear the wake. Any ideas, suggestions?? dist/speed/correct board??? |

I don't know if you have him on a tower or not, but that can make at about a 10' difference in distance from the boat. While he's learning it wouldn't hurt to be closer. Bringing the wakes together can help him get over the fear of it, and build confidence till he's ready to move back. Can you put up a video of him riding? Two of the most common things are how hard he's edging, and whether or not he's holding his edge and extending his knees when he hits the wake. Encourage him to really commit to it before he goes out, and have him work on one thing at a time. Here are some videos you can watch with him, and it should get you on the right track.

Last video on this page is a real good one.

Tell him to do exactly waht Christobull said. Edge somewhat hard and hold that edge all the way through the wake and stand tall at the wake so he does not absorb it.
Also make the rope shorter till he gets the hang of it. |
