| hey guys i need some help with my wake jumps. i am getting plenty of height, thats not the problem. the problem is i am coming up a few feet short on all of them. when i edge in towards the wake i seem to be letting up a little bit. i am also using a old ski rope but im getting a wakeboard rope soon. is the rope a big problem or do i just need to edge in harder? |

The rope shouldn't be a problem for this.
Make sure that you are keeping a progressive edge (keep edging harder and harder) all the way through the wake, and you should have it. |

The rope won't hurt you on that, but it may decrease your hang time without a tower. What length/speed are you riding at? Boat speed more than rope length could be an issue, but once you're edging progressively and correctly, standing tall at the wake, and keeping your handle low, you will get to where you're clearing it easily. _________________

also, when you stand tall at the wake do you continue to edge or flatten off? |

wakeboard1414, definitely keep edging. As a matter of fact, edge harder. You stand tall, but it's not straight up and down. If you've ever used a rowing machine, it's the same motion. You straighten up, but you're laying back against the pull of the machine. I don't know if you're using a tower, which can make about a 10' difference in distance from the boat, but you're at a good distance and speed to learn. If you're having trouble with edging hard, work on it when you're edging out, and when you learn what it feels like to really press you're edge hard to cut through the water, just transfer that to the end of your progressive edge towards the wake. _________________

christobull, thanks for all the help. i dont have a wakeboard boat, i ride behind a 21 key west bay boat. it actually puts out a decent wake when we fill the rear livewell with water and get weight in the back. The rope is attached to the T-top, so i guess that would count as a tower. _________________ anything is possible |

wakeboard1414, we've boarded behind a 21' bay boat. Try closing the washdown drains and then hook up a hose to the livewell pump, or the washdown if you have it, to fill the boat with about 4" of water. The biggest problem is keeping the boat ballanced, but if your livewell is only on one side, you probably already know this. _________________

If you were flattening out before, that is definitely the first thing to fix. _________________
