|
|
Picked up my new Air Nautique 210 last week. The wake seems kinda washed out @ 18 MPH - gets much crisper @ 20-22 or so.
Is this normal? I've only run it for maybe 30 minutes and I'm way too early to make any judgements just yet.
I also haven't run it with the ballast installed...
I noticed the same behavior on a similar 210 a month or so when we were down for lessons @ Mike's Place (which was an awesome time).
Anyway - just wondering if any other 210 owners might be able to comment.
Thanks in advance.

add 1800 lbs and ride @ 23/23.7/24.7 at 80/85 ft and you won't find a nicer wake out there. _________________

I should have clarified.
I pull my younger kids (7 and 10 yrs) @ about 18...they like it a bit slower and I'm not pushing them at this point.
Anyway - appreciate anyone's experience on this.

| You kind of have to ride at faster speeds to get a nice wake with most boats. Instead of going slow with a short rope, which i guess you're doing, go faster and put them at longer line as long as their not trying to go w2w. The longer the line the slowerr things are. |

wakeborder5, I agree.
I have a clean wake at 18 mph without any weight. But, if you throw some weight in there you have to go 20-22 mph to clean it up. That's on a MC Prostar 190 though, which in no Air Nautique. _________________ Ride harder...

The narrow hulls of Nautiques seem to need a bit more speed to preven wake wash. Usually about 18mph without weight will work, but with weight, you'll need about 20 mph. The wider hulls (friend's Malibu) doesn't wash out untill lower speeds (16mph or so), but also require more weight to get the same size wakes at the higher speeds (21-23mph). _________________ Boat: 2000 Pro Air Nautique

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.
I traded in my MasterCraft 230VRS (with Tower) for the Air Nautique (simply because it was hard to buy from the MC dealer on the lake where we are - but that's another story).
Like I said - I've only got maybe 30 minutes running it and it was an early impression.
Thanks again!

I am guessing you want to keep it unweighted when the little guys are going, I would recommend letting the rope out as far as it will go, even as much as 80ft. That is assuming they are not attempting wake 2 wake jumps. The wake will definitely have wash back there but conditions will be calmer and edges will be easier to control, it should allow them to adapt to faster speeds like 19-20. Shortening the rope will bring the distance between the wakes in closer, but conditions will be a little tougher to handle and the wake will of course be steeper.
For a true crisp weighted wake for the big boys, I wouldn't go any less than 22 with a 75ft line, we typically ride at 23.7 and a 80ft line, thats with 3-6 people, all 3 tanks, and an extra 500lb sac in the bow. Its a beautiful thing, so congrats on the new boat. |

When I pull new riders they usually like it around 18 on PP - the TS (regular) side of the wake is washed out. that with stock ballast and no wedge down usually _________________ Got premier? |
