Wave Size / Rope Length / Speed - Questions Plz Help

Hello,

This is my first post but I've read tons and this board is great. I have some important questions which I have not seen answered anywhere else. Please help as you can. Thanks !

I ride behind a boat which is NOT specifically designed for wakeboarding (motor at the back with barely no platform and no added weight) but I do have a tower and good rope. It seems that the only way to go high and land in the flat is to go fast (24-26 mph) with a short rope (63'-70'). But no matter how hard I edge, I never seem to get lots of air, I mean big air to do easy flips. Could the problem be with my boat ? Would a real wakeboarding boat allow me to do much higher jumps or is the problem only with my edging technique ? Or the rope length and boat speed ?

Me and my friend have been trying to do huge heelside wake jumps but it's never really impressive compared to what you see in good wakeboard videos. I don't think our technique is too bad and we are really trying hard. Any insights on how much the wave size, boat speed, rope length, technique affect the height of your jumps ? Any comments will certainly be useful. Thanks !

By the way, I'm asking all this because I'm thinking about changing boat to a real wakeboarding boat but I'm wondering how much of a difference it will make ? Is it worth it ?

technique will help alot. this is most important. watch some instructional vids, take some lessons, and go ride with some advanced riders all these will help.

but yes its harder to go huge without a nice wake.

and dont try to mimic the wake vids, your only kidding yourself. there paid to ride for a reason. there pros. Cool

Obviously a real WB boat with a good wake will help, but I have no problem getting 5-6 ft. of air behind my unweighted i/o. Work on your technique or post a vid so we can see what you are doing wrong.
