so my LF witness 140 order was backed-up for like 3 weeks.. so i went ahead and got the cwb transcend 138 w/ faction boots (2008).. and it was awesome for my first day out. I was being pulled by a seadoo wakepro 215 that we got, and i actually got up.. except i fell.. alot. lol

I started getting up pretty easily after a while, but i would veer to the left side of the wake and almost begin riding toeside to the wake, and i think i need to be on the right side of the wake riding in regular stance (left food forward and right back) so i'll be leaning with my heels toward the jet ski.

I actually did a surface 180 and then ran straight into the wake and faceplanted, but it was all cool lol... going again next week since i only had like an hour today

mucksoup, who cares what kind of boat? Any boat is better than the couch. Don't be like that-it is not what the people on this forum are about. You ride behind what you've got and that is that. Rolling Eyes

xjsnxillusion, your location on the wake is irrelevant. You can control that by putting weight on your heels or toes to travel from left to right. But, if you are being pulled sideways check your position of your arms. If you are holding the rope with your arms straight out like you're skiing on two skis, you need to break that habit right away. Take the handle and put it on your lead hip. In your case, if you're riding regular, that is the left hip. Keep it there at all times-a great fundamental to learn right away. If it is real tough to do that, you can try holding the rope with ONLY your left hand and keep your arm out straight toward the boat. This will help you keep your shoulders, hips, and board all in the same line.

Excellent advice pet575, on e of my buddies had the exact same problem till I put the center fins in my board, he rode a couple sets with em in to get an understanding of the control. I rode a set with em in, and holy crap that board cuts hard and fast, by the time I hit the wake I was blazing, booted into the flats for the first time lol.

Definitely good advice. It doesn't matter what you're being towed behind to get your start. I would throw out the recommendation of getitng "The Book" DVD's. You definitely want Volume 1 to learn the basics about riding AND driving. Volume 2 might be good if you progress quickly so you can build a good foundation of fundamentals.

xjsnxillusion, looks like these guys have you taken care of. It doesn't hurt to have your driver go pretty slow while you're first learning, or just practicing to cut back and forth. My advice would be, learn to ride with both feet forward at the same time, not just one or the other. There are many things I'd do differently about my progression, but this would be the first. It's easier to learn both ways now because you can mimic the things that work well for each stance. And, don't worry, everyone falls... a lot.
