My 10 yr old son is 4'1" and 52 pounds has been boarding for 2 years. He loves it!
We pull him at 60' and about 19mph
He rides on a Hyperlite 109 Motive
He loves boarding and can get air but can't clear the wake. Any ideas, suggestions?? dist/speed/correct board???

By the sounds of it and the way the photo looks in your profile, it seems like he is approaching the wake in a timid manner. He may not be doing a good "Progressive Edge" either. Look at the thread below and see the most recent video clips of my 9 YO son. You can kind of analyze his W2W jump video and get a feel for it. If you guys order "The Book" DVDs that will help too. You might look at getting Volumes 1 & 2. The key for him is that edge, though.

We're pulling our son at 55' and 19 MPH on a LF Nemesis 124. He weighs about 70 pounds and I'm not sure on his height exactly. You're probably in good shape on speed and board. You might bring him in a little shorter to 55' as long as he won't get into the wash from the spray.

To me, it looks like he flattens out before he hits the wake. He needs to keep his edge carving when he initiates his cut all the way to the moment he comes to the wake.

To me, he doesn't seem to be "digging in" very hard with the edge. Think Z's, not S's. He simply needs to be more aggressive.

You can definitely see this in his first two jumps. His third jump looks the best, since he finally dug in and got some speed, then committed all the way to the wake. While his 4th jump it looks like you shortened the rope or something, but he cleared it! Wink
