|
In the past year, I've finally gotten my w2w consistent enough to start trying stuff while I'm up there in the air. Most of it is going OK, but I'm having trouble with a pretty basic thing- grabs. Biggest problem I seem to have is that I feel like I'm getting pulled off axis and onto my face as soon as I let go of the handle with one hand.
All of the video I see, the riders have their "rope hand" pretty much all the way out and extended. When I do this, it is pulling me on my face. Was thinking of holding it closer to my hip, but I'm just not seeing that being done by people who know what they are doing.
Anyone have any suggestions for me? _________________

| If you've got w2w's then its the same thing... ride all the way up the wake and extend. All you should be doing is bringing your knees up for the grab. |

Thanks guys. I think I'm trying to bend down to touch the board with my handle up high instead of sucking my legs up to my chest. _________________

thats common. handle low, knees in your chest, with upright/leaning back torso. _________________

I think they've answered your question pretty well, but when I started grabbing, I always practiced new grabs heelside to avoid unwanted rotation. And, grabs around your lead foot are typically easier to perform IMO because you only have to bring your lead leg up toward your chest. I can't do grabs with my right hand because of a shoulder injury, so someone else could give some feedback on the tailside grabs. I just simply don't do them unless I'm riding switch. _________________
