|
|
First off let me start by saying hello everybody I am new to this forum but hope to enjoy a long time here as I have recently become addicted to wakeboarding. Anyway on to the issue.
So I have been researching ropes a lot and have learned a lot, the only issue is whenever I try to apply what I learned it proves to be quite difficult. What I mean by this is I want a 50'-55' maybe 60' rope with no stretch (preferably Spectra, apparently). But when I search all I ever find is more advice or low-stretch ropes or ropes that are too long.
Basically my question is can anyone point me in the direction of a specific rope (w/ a good wakeboard handle) fitting those specifications or point me elsewhere and explain why the specifications I want are incorrect.
Thank you in advance! |

I'm no expert, but from what i understand you should be looking at much longer ropes. Once you start going big you'll want to extend your rope for extra hangtime and distance. I think you should be buying atleast a 70', then from there you can tie knots and get it down to what you want. From things i've read/heard a non-stretch rope is definatly a must though.
Hope I helped... maybe someone with more knowledge can help you further because i'm far from an expert. |

There are removable sections that can bring the length down from 75' to 55' in 5' increments in most ropes. _________________ just livin' man, just livin' |

most ropes are in the 55-60 foot range and come with additional add-on sections to get to your desired length.
I just bought a Liquid Force coated line on ebay.. 55' with enough sections to get it out to 80ft.
You definitely want no stretch. |

Ok thank you everyone so far. The fact that the ropes have removable sections really clears a lot of questions for me. So basically with that in mind any length rope is really ok with me as long as it has the removeable sections.
So now my revised question is can anyone give me a specific rope that is spectra no-stretch (length is no issue as previously stated, as long as it has removable sections) and comes with a decent handle (doesn't need to be like a $100 carbon handle just a serviceable handle)
PS: I have been reading a lot about "Dyneema" recently, is that a suitable replacement for spectra or should I stick with the spectra? |
