Hi Guys,
Im in the middle of my second season wakeboarding and love it. bought my first boat a few months back and want to change it for something with more power and a bigger wake. Its simply too small and hasnt enough power to lift a boarder when loaded with people.

My problem is I live in Ireland were boats and fuel are big bucks so unless your ridiculously rich youl find it hard to afford a wakeboard boat. I have agood enough job however so would love to get 3 or 4 other people who are addicted to wakeboarding and buy like a 2004 wakeboard boat. My question is, has anyone else ever done this and does it work? Was considering placing an add in a local newspaper to see if there was much interest. Any advice?

Lots of potential problems...
1) Someone's current situation changes and they no longer want/can pay their portion of the tab... remaining people get stuck picking up the slack.
2) The "you used the boat every weekend and I only used it 4 times this year, so you should pay more" argument.
3) You take great care of your things but the others could care less about maintenance so the boat gets put away trashed.
4) Who's responsible for damage to the boat? The driver at the time? The people in the boat at the time? The collective group paying for the boat?
5) Storage of the boat?
6) One person wants to use the boat on vacation but another wants to use the boat the same time. How do you settle who gets the boat?

The list goes on and on. Bottom line... I'd save your money and upgrade once you can afford something better. Just my $0.02

Did the boat share thing for 4 years. It can be done with the right people. Started out with 2 people, added 1 more, lost 1, added 2 more, lost one, lost 2. Probably best to put in a deposit and have a contract. Good luck!
