|
|
Just wondering if it would be unwise to skip the spins and go for the inverts, i.e., HS back roll to start with. I've got w2w frontside 180s down, but I kinda wanna throw down a flip. Think I should skip the 360 for now?
Also, how difficult really is the back roll. I've heard people say how easy it is, but how easy is it really for relatively new wakeboarders?
Thanks |

| I tried a tantrum before my 360, after i wasnt getting the tantrum i tried 360's and stomped in 3rd try. Just give the inverts a try and if its not happening get comfortable doing spins.. |

Ive done 2 months of riding, i can do the raley, the backroll and a krypt, and that in 2 months, so you can learn it very quickly, but i have to admit that i am very determine and i can whistain the pain i got from all those terrible pain. _________________

I ride 4 - 5 times a week, sessions of 4 hours (at cablepark.)
learning goes quickly when you do it alot, its really fun to see the difference when i started end march, and when you see mee boarding now, ill post a video soon. _________________

Theres no reason why you cant work on an invert and spinning during the same time, actually I wouldnt suggest anything else. Normally you ride different every day and sometimes your better at spinning or flipping or whatever you feel like doing. If you constantly work on one thing through your set it can wear you out and be dissapopinting, I would limit yourself to only trying a new trick a certain amount of times during a set. Switch it up and dont compare how long it takes you to learn something to anybody else because everybody is different and theres no set learning curve. Just have fun. _________________ Random Acts Of Dumbness Will Always Be Rewarded. |

I will say this, when I first started, I attempted a number of inverts with some success even before I could land the 180 consistently. Looking back on it, I'm surprised that I was even able to complete the rotation, let along land a few, but to me the inverts just came more natural. Also, I practiced with a trampoline and a rope tied to a tree, so the I was able to feel the way my hand position and line tension would effect my rotation before I even got out on the water. _________________

I took a very progressive and methodical approach to my learning curve
I learned all 4 of the wake to wake 180s before i moved on to trying anything else.
It took me about a year or so to get smooth on everything. But I only get to ride at MAX once a week, and thats only during summer.
After doing all of these steps, 360s came VERY easy for me. As its just putting two different 180s together
I guess its all dependent on the person. I'm not very good at inverts |

I just came back to this forum, didn't realize this thread was still active. Progress! Landed a 360, still not very consistent, so I'm still working on that, but I haven't tried an invert yet.
Many people I've talked to said inverts are easier, hurt less ( ), than a 360. True?
And tantrum or BS heel roll first?
Also, did most of you learn/practice a backflip on trampoline first?
A lot of questions; I've got no one but you guys, ha... |

Congrats on the 3. A frontroll was easy for me to take from the tramp to the water. I guess it's harder than the backroll, but I didn't have the members of this forum to tell me that at the time. Under rotating a backroll doesn't seem to hurt near as bad as catching an edge on a wake to wake. I don't know why, but it definitely seems more mellow. Not sure about raley style inverts. I haven't done one in a couple of years due to an injury, but if I screwed up, I more or less just dove in the water. It was the times when I got the board back under me, and then fell that I was usually hurting. _________________
