I have been out once and did ok. But I want a board I can progress with. I want something light weight too. I weigh b/w 155-160 and I am 5' 11". I am riding a 2008 liquid force Trip 138. It just seems so heavy to me. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.

i've been out wakeboarding 3 times total and i just bought my first board, an '08 hyperlite murray.

how much money can you spend on a board? and i just talked with some reps from cwb and hyperlite today before i made my decision. cwb basically said their best board to progress with would be the pure 141 and hyperlite said the forefront would be a great board to progress with. hopefully this helps a little

Thanks every little bit helps. I have been reading reviews but most boards only have 2-8 reviews and I would rather have a little more info. I dont mind spending the money if I know the board will last and it is what I want. Like I said the current board I have just feels to heavy for me. I think it will be good to learn on but I will want something a little better soon.

call up a local board shop or a boat dealer with a pro shop shop. you might find someone very knowledgeable and if you're willing to spend more money, they can give you a few more options on boards.

Well that is the problem, not any local shops around me. The lake I go to does not have any that I know of.

I don't see anything wrong with what you're riding. The Trip might not be the absolute lightest board out there, but it isn't bad. You could probably ride a 135-137 at your weight, but I really don't think that board is obscenely oversized for you.

if your after light weight the 08 slingshots cant be beat period.
heres allitle research ive been doing for awhile. i weighed all these myself on the same digital scale.

Weights:
08 recoil 142 blank 7 lbs 8oz
09 recoil 142 blank 7 lbs 11.5oz

04 HL parks bio 138 blank 8 lbs 4oz
08 LF Shane 140 blank 8 lbs 8oz
09 HL Murray 140 blank 8 lbs 5oz

as you can see the SS 142 boards are way lighter than LF and HL 138s Shocked

Thanks that is helpful. But I wish there was somewhere I could get some demo's at around here. We just do not have any good board shops here. Well that I know of at least. I just hate to spend a few hundred on a board I don't know much about.

sidetracked3, The board you are riding is plenty fine to progress on. I've been riding for 8 years and I was going to ride the trip this year. It's a good board. As far as the whole weight debate.. Do you know you could drop a couple lbs off your "setup" if you just drop a huge deuce before you go out?

A few lbs really doesn't matter. If you were throwing around inverts like mad maybe I could see being a little anal about it. But a LF trip certainly isn't going to hold you back.

Get out and ride!
