Hey guys, I need some help. Have 6.5 hp mower motor. (got the fact that you can't simply turn it side ways.) read an OLD POSTING on some site from a guy that said a conversion could be accomplished with a kit and a rebuild. (apparently he had small engine repair experience). been looking for info on this but can't seem to find any. The other option is to place a "Right Angle gear set" directly onto the shaft. I fear this will cause hp loss. help is greatly appreciated! Eng. = 6.5 hp B&S OHV. Pretty much a new motor just been sitting for awhile. will be using TAV. will weld own frame. college students project, we have very little money & the TAV purchase will eat that up! Thanks guys!

i would look for a horizontal motor. call your lawnmower shops around town. if its a school project, many will be willing to help with a good engine to rebuild. it would be cheaper going that route than trying to modify what you have. trust me. i run a small engine shop.
