Ever have one of those days that you just feel off? Yesterday after work we went to the lake to get a couple hours of riding in and it just felt like nothing clicked, the riding was crap, the boat wasnt holding speed, the wake didnt feel right. What do you to when your not "feeling" it? Do you power through it and try to ride anyway? Or is it better to just quit early? I kept trying to force it and all I did was find new ways to ingest water...

There wasn't any one thing wrong, I mean the water was nice and smooth, the weather was great, and there were hardly any boats around but my two buddies and me all could not get a good ride in to save our lives... It was very disappointing because I feel like I have been progressing so well lately. Any rant over.,,, Just wanted to share that... Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Yesterday I was out in the morning and I couldn't ride for my life. I wasn't feeling anything and couldn't think straight. I ended up hitting a buoy full force right after landing a simple toe fs 180. I hate days like that.

We all have days like that. I find that they are usually the days that I forget I'm out there to relax and have fun and am getting too intense and overdoing things. Usually a little time in the boat before I go back out helps me remind myself that I'm supposed to be having fun.

jctwake, where do you ride?

I had one of those days a few months ago. I'll slow the boat down and do some surface tricks or just ride switch for the whole set. Anything to get water time but break up the rut that you are in.

I will change it up. Some days when I'm riding crappy I'll just go out and have fun with stuff. Do a bunch of ollies/bs180s, powerslides, tailslides, wake carves. Just play around on the water. Sometimes goofing around lightens my mood and then I start to get in a groove.

Other days I'll just switch to skating early. I always do 1 skate set anyway so maybe I'll do 2 or 3 if I'm not feeling it. If I'm not skating well I do the same thing, carves, ollies, surface spins.

I had one of those days a few weeks ago, I just took a break, had a couple beers and relaxed. By the last set of the day I was riding better. It was an off day all the way around.

I was in such a hurry to get out there that I forgot to get gas in my truck, sure enough, ran out on the way back to town. My brother was following me, so I jumped in his van and we went to the nearest small town 6-7 miles down the road. The gas station was still open so I thought we were in luck, but they didn't sell gas cans or even have a loaner, I couldn't believe it...WTF? So we have to drive another 20 miles into Lincoln to get a can. Finally get a can, get gas, and get back to my truck, by this time it's close to midnight. As I'm pouring the gas into my truck I remember that I keep a 2 gallon can full of gas under the back seat of the boat Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Laughing Yeah one of those days.

If I can't put a good run together I usually slow the boat down, shorten the length and just try new tricks

I hate those days. I tend to just have some fun with it - which it should be anyway - practise doing some drills, working on the technique. Literally just do some carving, surfing the wake, goofing around, soon brings back the mojo.

And yeah break out the wakeskate.

Agree 100%. I have gone out on the first run or two expecting to start off where I left off, and just start hitting it, then getting frustrated when I wipe out on a simple hs w2w.

Then I forget it is supposed to be fun, and start analyzing everything I did wrong on the run, then get bummed out that Im not progressing etc...

I sit in the boat, get back into the reality Im on a boat, on a lake, away from work, with good friends and that this doesnt last forever. I then say f it, Im gonna just go have some fun, and walla...next run Im back to par and even progressing.

Psychology of athletics has so much to do with performance!

GO HAVE FUN!

I like faceplants so much, that feeling on my face after i just hit it... For me fun with wakeboarding is deliberitly making faceplants, on higher speeds the better... Ooh and the pictures definetly are more fun to watch then of backrolls or raleys Very Happy

Double sets are fun. You've got to keep up the communication though, full force tackles with bulky wakeboards strapped to your feet are not fun at all. Unfortunately, our ropes are never the same length, so the person further back gets to put up with a lot of rooster tail which I may or may not be intentionally throwing their way. lol

stupid thing about blisters that it hurts to make inverts for another 5 days...
