Hi all,

I am a long time reader of these forums, and many of the threads and posts have gone a long way to progressing my riding. I got the courage to try a tantrum this past weekend for the first time, and damn near landed my first one ever. i went on to try it about 6 times, always landing on the board.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIFWNbAulxA

Those are my first three attempts...not lying.

My next three looked very similar.

To all you tanny veterans, id like to know what you think. I am big on trying not to learn bad habits, so i would like to learn the right way the first time.

After watching the video, it seems to me like i am throwing the trick a bit early, and i can tell you that I have never done an invert, so I get disoriented, and the landing is a surprise to me everytime.

Any and all feedback and / or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much

it looks like you are just coming up short. so either bring the rope in some or speed up, and you should get it smooth.

I was riding at 65' at 22.

I just about landed one on the downside of the wake. The last few I was really really tired, as this was my last ride of the day. Id been riding, doing wake jumps and 180s all day...literally, for about 5 hours. I think if I go out there and keep it all the same and have more strength in my legs I can clear the wake and get more pop to better spot my landing. Ill give it a shot this weekend when I am fresh, and if I cant get over the wake, Ill shorten up to 60'

It looks like all you have to do is edge a little harder before squaring up, you have the rest of it. A little more edge should get you past that 2nd wake. I'd be suprised if you didn't get it your next time out.

pateaux, you the perfect example for all boarders. You show us that tricks are all in your mind and that wakeboarding is technical not that hard. You need muscle, and courage!

You can learn wakeboarding in 2 months, technicly, like raleys, tantrums, mobe's, frontflips, technicly its all simple.

But the real art of wakeboarding is in style, wich you develop through years and take some real skill and time.

I will be going sunday and filming. I will edge harder from further out, wait till the wake throws me up, and I WILL LAND THIS MOTHER:!: Exclamation Exclamation Very Happy

thanks for all the advice and support.

One last question...

What other inverts are considered easy inverts Question

or what would be your next trick if you just landed a few tantrums Question

Ive been studying scarecrows, front rolls and back rolls. I have solid wake jumps and fair to good 180 consistency.

pateaux, next would be hs backroll.

Frontroll, Scarecrow and ts backroll would follow in no particular order.

Well, two more trips and I still haven't stuck one. Actually, the time I went out right after starting this post, I concentrated on edging harder, but the increased speed got me jumpy and I kept throwing it real early, landing on my face a few times....which in turn broke my confidence and made me more timid in my next attempts, which made me land on my face and loose a contact.

Not giving up tho!! Went out last week and spent all day on my switch riding, surface tricks, 180's and the things I can do well to build myself back up. Going in the morning tomorrow to try again. Wish me luck...

On a side note, I have a riding buddy that can do mexican rolls all day long, and we were talking about backrolls. He got out there, went straight out, cut in, threw the backroll and landed it first try. That has me wanting to try a backroll now. Anyone here have multiple tricks they are working on at once? Would it be a bad idea to work on both in the same day?

i think backrolls are easier than tantrums, just cuz you dont have to do anything funny with your edging, just make sure you use the whole wake and stand tall. and not to take anything away from your friend, but a mexican roll is pretty much a backroll, so dont let yourself get to thinking its gonna be really easy just cuz your friend did one first try

I've got a friend who is landing on the board on a tantrum, backroll, and ts frontroll... but has yet to ride away from any of them. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up stomping all three on the same day.

As far as the backroll goes, it was my first invert. I also learned it way faster then it has taken me to get anywhere close on the tantrum Some people are different though. If your getting close on the tantrum I wouldn't give up on it completely just yet.
