|
|
Okay so I made about every newbie mistake you can make while learning to wakeboard, I bought in I/O instead of a inboard, I bought beginner gear. I am a heelside hero, and still can barely ride switch. So before I make another brash descision I thought I would include you guys in my next decision.
My setup is 2008 State 140 w/ State Bindings. The bigger my air gets the more pain I have been feeling in my feet and ankles on the landings, so i borrowed my buddies PS3 with CWB hinge tech bindings. It felt GREAT!!! soft landings and much better arch support. So I am thinking of upgrading my bindings at least if not a whole new setup.
My concern is that remember that feeling you got when you were 7 years old that if you got new shoes they made you run faster? I dont want to buy new gear for the sake of buying new gear. I can get a close-out set of 2008 bindings for around $250 that are much better quality, is it worth it?
Here are a few things I'm looking at buying.

Let me know any thoughts you guys have, Thank you all _________________ Lets see how many cliche inspirational sayings we can throw at the rider in one pull, they really do help...

when i looked earlier there was no text.. haha the watson ct and the vantage are two of the best bindings ever. The vantages are super comfy, but soft, the watsons are a bit stiffer. _________________

I just want to make sure I am not just buying gear for the sake of buying gear... When I got on my buddies PS3 with CWB factions everything felt better, my landings were softer, and the board although it felt loose, it felt very fast.
I know there is now way my gear is holding me back, but I still think an upgrade might be worth it. Am I falling into a trap? _________________ Lets see how many cliche inspirational sayings we can throw at the rider in one pull, they really do help... |

Kinda sounds like you answered your own questions..
You explained that you are experiencing pain on landings with your current setup.. trying something different made things better for you. I would say there's your answer!
It seems to me that you could be well served with some new bindings and to keep your current board.
I tried both the CWB Faction and Torq.. ended up buying the Torq. they just felt better to me and seemed to fit my huge feet a bit better than the Factions (09 torq vs 08 faction).
Good luck! |

I just fell in love with a pair of 2009 LF Watson CT, just curious, is there any difference between the 2008 Watsons and the 2009? The ones I tried on felt amazing, I just want to make sure if I order the 2008 model they would feel the same. Thanks for the help everyone! _________________ Lets see how many cliche inspirational sayings we can throw at the rider in one pull, they really do help... |

Thanks nickl011, but I tried on a 10-11 and they fit like a glove! I was blown away by how well they held my foot. I can not wait to order them... _________________ Lets see how many cliche inspirational sayings we can throw at the rider in one pull, they really do help... |

brotherbrown831, To my experience, a size up works best for me, with LF's stuff that is. I wear a 9 or 10 depending on the shoe brand. 9-10's are a little too snug. I tried on 10-11's and they fit the best to me. _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

| I figured out exactly what you're saying this year. I decided that I shouldn't have pain when I ride, so I picked up a new board (I was riding one that was too small...) and a new set of LF Transit bindings. The Transits rule and I am completely comfortable in them. I had to go out on a limb to see what they were about, as my old ones were a bad example, but I'm glad I did. I feel totally different in my new setup, and, while some of it might be in my head, my feet haven't hurt one bit while I'm out riding. If different stuff worked for you, then get it. If your current setup hurts, you'll never progress, IMO, because you'll contatntly be thinking of the pain and not the tricks. |

| I have a pair of 10-11 vantages and i love them. I just wish they could be a little stiffer. I wear a 10.5 shoe and the 10-11's fit perfect. If i were going to buy new bindings though i would definitely go for the watson CT's for $20 more. |

I have the LF Vantage and had the LF Transits last year. There is a noticeable difference in the change. A friend of ours bought the Transits from us after trying them a couple times last year. I think good bindings make a big difference. Try to buy as good and as comfortable of a binding as you can afford. I truly believe you get what you pay for when it comes to bindings. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

What do I have to do to get the 20% off?
I put in "USA" to get the 20% off the board, but I'm still at $401 |

I bought from these guys a couple times now. I got the previous year closeout Witness board and Transit bindings for $300 shipped. You might check with them and see if they can beat evogear. Talk to Evan Noren.
This winter I got my wife's Melissa bindings and the new setup for my boys (LF Nemesis / LF Domains) both for better pricing than I could find anywhere online. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

I searched for Watson boots on amazon and Evoi had them listed for $228 So i called them and they gave me them for that price. Just give them a call and ask for the Amazon price. _________________ Lets see how many cliche inspirational sayings we can throw at the rider in one pull, they really do help... |

I hope you're very happy with those. I have some HL Remix bindings and even though they're intermediate quality, I love them. I wear a size 13 which sucks because it even limits my board selection if I don't want my feet turned way out or my toes dragging. I could go for some more lateral motion though, making it a little easier to bone out those grabs. A Japan Air looks very unnatural with my current range of motion, and that's one of the grabs that makes me feel like I'm a lot better than I really am when I do it. _________________
