|
|
| Just getting started wakeboarding and I am trying to w2w but come up about a foot or 2 short of the flatts everytime. Granted my form aint great yet but how much more height and distance will I see with a tower cause we currently just go off the tow loop and have no tower on the boat. |

A raised tow point (tower or pylon) will not make up for proper technique. However once you have your technique down it will help you get more air. I rode all last summer off the ski hook, and installed a tower this spring, and between that and working very hard on all aspects of my technique it boosted me from 2-3 ft of air into the 6 ft. range. The main difference I noticed was how much easier it was to get out of the water, causing much less fatigue giving me longer ride times. _________________

Like JeffreyCH said, once you get a proper form, the tower will allow you to get off the ground and stay off the ground for a longer amount of time. Just work on the progressive edge in and everything should come together. _________________ Grow some. |

No one NEEDS a tower (or specific wakeboard boats, bindings, board etc...)...case in point: early Scott Byerly, behind a ski boat. Watch this vid, then think of a tower only to extend out from these humble beginnings:

He is just so smooth in the video. Im so angry with myself, as I was riding just a couple of years before that (around 92 or so) and up until that time, then gave up the sport for beach volleyball, drinking and smoking and girls and work. Lost interest Wish I stuck with it.
I saw no jacket as well! But I dont remember many people wearing jackets back then, I think I skipped wearing it most of the time too. _________________ One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them. One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them. |

The first time I ever got up on a wakeboard, it was one similar to that, but it had no fins, and only one lonely sandal strap in the front. Never could have imagined at the time that tricks like that were possible on it. _________________
