hey everyone, just startin out, gonna order first board soon, and im lookin at the Hyperlite State series 135 package..i am 5'8 145lbs..is this a good package for a beginner?...my budget is about $400

where are you ordering from? maybe you can find a website near you and pay for ground and it'll get there in 2 days =O

from hyperlites website, the shipping is 3-5, usually i have luck with shipping(knock on wood)....but because of work and all i wont be able to get on the water until HOPEFULLY friday afternoon...and ive looked around from suggested websites and the hyperlite.com price is the same as the others and shipping is only $10:)...its the hyperlite state series 135 with sprint boots

I suggest not ordering from the brand's website. usually the prices are ridiculous =0

I don't have any experience with the HL state, but after dealing with Hyperlite to replace my broken Premier I will say there are a great company that stands behind their products, and takes care of their customers. Let us know how ya like the ride, and welcome to the site.

ive been snowboarding every winter since i was 7, hoping i can get acclamated pretty quick, im excited to start pullin some crazy stuff, and im sure the water will be more forgiving than snow haha

If you got the HL state bindings as part of your package I do ride those and thy are great, a bit of a pita to get on, but once in very comfy, and secure.

As for snowboarding, I can tell you there are fundamental differences in the way you use your edges. The weight distribution is a bit different, you'll see what I'm talking about after riding some.

first day out today, rode all day, almost got w2w down, about a foot short...startin to get more hieght along with distance too...i recomend the book dvd series!
