What is it about having daddy's x-star on the lake makes you such snobby little f'ers? Since I have been boating it has always been a friendly thing, ya know wave at each other, shoot the s**t at the boat dock ect. I've had 2 experiences with x-star "owners" this season, neither of them positive.
A couple weeks ago we were at branched oak on a Thurs. afternoon this is 1 of the bigger lakes we go to. Pretty decent day, about 5-6 other riders out. As we roll by the dam we see an older x-star with the hatch up and 3 guys all huddled around the engine looking in. We pull up to them and ask if they need any help, their answer "go away" and I can't swear to it but I thought 1 of em flipped us off, only saw it out of the corner of my eye. Mmmmmmm ok, geez not trying to hijack your boat, just seein if ya need a hand.
We went to our little stash spot last Thurs. barely an over sized fish pond. Lake is butter when we pull up, hardly any traffic, couple jet ski's and an old outboard with a home made tower. After we're there for an hour or so here drops in this newer x-star (yellow pickle fork) I was actually excited to see it show up. We had to keep an eye on it since it was tossing such a huge wake, my novice crew can't really deal with 2' rollers, and basically these guys were churning up the whole lake. At 1 point we passed fairly close, both just cruisin, and I smiled and waved, the driver looks right at me sticks his nose in the air and rolls by. Hmmm
Ok so after a few hours of this snob ruining the lake with his chop it's time to pull out and head home. We're sitting in the parking area just up from the ramp, I'm finishing stowing gear and what not. Here comes the x-star, my brother goes to the dock, lend a hand, admire the boat up close whatever. As these d-bags pull out (yeah, hope ya gouged the hell out of your hull power ramming it onto the trailer) they're giving my brother the evil eye, and him being the politician he is asked a couple general questions about the boat after they had it all the way out of the water, totally rude to him.
What the hell???? Your daddy buys you a big fancy boat and all of a sudden you are better then anyone else? Guys in the first story, hope next time you really do need a tow from my cheap ass PAID for i/o. Guys in the second story........I'm about to develop an old school surfers attitude....locals only...stay the F off my pond....oh yeah and, my 40y/o ass rips twice as hard you fags can barely cross that big 'ol 80k wake that daddy bought ya hahahahahahah big boat no balls

| The truth is the truth: daddy can't buy skills. Oh yeah, and the more daddy buys, the more obvious it is. I love watching these guys hit the wall of wake that their monster boat throws, and that they obviously aren't equipped to ride off. And yes, i secretly hope they ruin the hulls of their boats trying to get them on the trailer. |

scott a, In life.....of course.....in boating NEVER, I've rescued stranded people that have been blown into the lake on rafts, pulled in people that for whatever reason the boat doesn't start, I've been pulled in out of gas, fried alternator....I guess it's just Nebraska or something, we keep an eye on each other and help if needed.....to snub that ............ok I'm hammered had to vent
don't wanna type anymore....so...not gonna night,peace out _________________

Lol...yeah I was pretty buzzed. To clarify IMO that's to much boat for that little lake. As far as the dealing with the 2nd hand wake, no biggie, it's the first real wakeboat I've seen that close, not to mention it's my dream boat.
The problem I have is with someone giving us a holier then thou attitude when all we wanted to do was get a closer look at their boat on the ramp.
Ah well....didn't mean to come off as a grumpy old fart, I'm gonna shut up and go ride. _________________

Never had to deal with any douchebags at all, luckily, but if it was me dealing with snobs with a nice boat, I would start talking tricks with them and make them feel like crap. Dick move, but funny for me if they were being jackasses before. |

I've always had to deal with a-holes, but I've never had anyone snub me when asking if they needed a tow in. That's some severe attitude but hey if that's the way they want to be.. tough. I guess I just try to stay positive and I pretend there are still good people in the world even though sometimes you cant find one to save your soul.
As far as the boat tossing the huge wake... That's kind of what we're about anyway in this sport so it's just something to deal with. Think of it this way, if you can't deal with it, who will? The sport might die out because of new rules / laws bla bla bla.
Anyways kudos on being a nice guy. Some days people just suck. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

Coincidence, maybe or maybe not....but the only real X-Star I've been around full to the rim with D-Bags. Blasting NWA at a fairly nice lake resort beach area. Then he damn near ran over my kid in a tight cover on Smith Mtn Lake. Thank god his rider saw my kid and let go, which stopped the boat, and stopped an immanent confrontation had he continued on his path less that 10 yards of my 7 year old. Whatever. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

| It's not just MCs. Money can't buy class. I've run into people like this from every boat manufacturer. Supra, Moomba, MC, Bu's, etc. I just keep waving, and laugh. |

haugy, Guess that's all ya can do. I just thought it was odd that the only 2 times I've ever been snubbed was by people on x-stars lol. I did see an x-1 out over the weekend, and those guys were pretty cool. _________________

two of the nicest guys I've ever been riding with each had their own brand new boats. One was an X-star and one was a malibu. It likely has very little to do with the boat they're driving and everything to do with them just being jerks in general.
No reason to hate on somebody just because they have a fancy boat... hate on them because they don't know how to be decent people. |

seen it both ways.
I have encountered d-bags in beat up runabouts and brand new wakeboats. The boat ramp/lake/river is not your friend on a saturday afternoon if you dont know how to blow off jackass idiots too drunk or stupid to have some common courtesy. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian? |

You are completely right, its the person not the boat. Unfortunately, the X-Star seems to have a real draw for the typical D-Bag / spoiled rich kid. |

I dont mind the snobs in the wakeboard boats. i just ride better than them when we drive by, and make them look like d-bags in front of their girlfriends when they cant even get over the wake. Pretty funny for me.
i cant stand sea doos. dont mind stand up jet skis, because to get good at those it actually takes some talent. But ive almost gotten ran over by sea doos quite often. And they just laugh and smile as they miss me by 8 feet, like its some kind of joke. Stupid A-holes.
or the newbs that want to sit and drain their boat on the launch ramp when there is a line of people waiting to launch or pull their boat out.
I am definatly getting to be one of the tourists go home, locals only type. |

Don't be too hard on people who don't wave back, sometimes they are checking out your boat and don't see you waving. We wave at everyone and get about a 50% response. Later I see people who don't wave back at the boat ramp and have a natter and they are as friendly as. _________________ Niiiiiiiiice |

I have a brand new SANTE 210 and completely suck at wakeboarding but have enough boating experience to understand etiquette and class. Maybe it's because I grew up fishing my entire life and shooting the sh*t at the dock is pretty much what you do after you've been on the water all day. Or maybe it's because I just love being on the water and grateful for every day I get to launch my boat. Either way, I just see so many "kids" who have no experience, never taken a Coast Guard class and have no reason to be behind the wheel of a boat. The first thing you learn in a safe boating class is that you are responsible for every person's safety that steps into your rig. And that responsibility demands maturity.
When you're on the water, just give everyone respect and it will come back. Karma is never more evident than in the boating world. |

I dont mind seeing people with new x-stars or any wake boat that dont wakeboard. Just bought the boat for looks i guess...they are helping the industry...
Im one of those "kids" i guess you could say thats is fortunate enough to have a newer x.star. But im not cocky in anyway, and love talking and meeting people on the lake when they come up. I also think i can ride ok. No matter what it is, there will always be the snobs that really stand out.
dalderman, ive never taken a boater course and have no desire to. Taking one of those courses dosent make you a more experienced boater, but a more knowledgable one i guess... |

After 46 years, I've learned that every demographic will have it's fair share of a-holes. Just so happens some own X-stars. Life's too short to worry about them. _________________ Sam I Am |

Well I came across one of my first a-hole sightings of the year this weekend. I was entertaining a good size group of friends. I had taken some of them out early sunday morning before the crowds and gave them all some pulls and had a good couple of hours of riding. None of us are really any good, but we love it none the less.
Well we were out that afternoon late around 4pm and a couple of them wanted to get another ride in before we called it a weekend and headed home. The water was a little rough, but we found some open water and we started riding. Now i'm in a silver Monterey 210 with a Monster Tower on it, its nothing flashy but it gets the job done. There were 8 of us in the boat so we had a good wake going. There was an orange Malibu off in the distance anchored up with a good group on board. Long story short i was pulling my friend and he went down, so as i circle back to get him the Malibu begins heading our way. He's basically playing chicken with a still target. He gets about 20 yards from my boat, and my downed rider and finally veers right and flys by us sending his huge wake into the side of my boat and swelling over my swimmer. As I turn to look at them i see 8 guys looking back laughing and pointing.
Needless to say, a-holes can be in malibus too. |

whiskeytown, I hear ya, it's beyond me why some people feel the need to act like that. I guess if acting like an a-hole makes 'em feel better about themselves then whatever. I guess when I started seeing the scene explode around here I thought it was really cool, and expected everyone to have a laid back attitude. For the most part that's what I have found. _________________
